Duke Lacrosse Players Sue Nifong, City

Three former Duke lacrosse players falsely accused of rape filed a federal lawsuit Friday against disgraced prosecutor Mike Nifong, the city of Durham and the police detectives who handled the investigation.
The lawsuit calls the criminal case against Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty and Dave Evans “one of the most chilling episodes of premeditated police, prosecutorial and scientific misconduct in modern American history.”
The lawsuit seeks unspecified punitive and compensatory damages, attorneys fees and numerous reforms to the way the Durham Police Department handles criminal investigations.

I’ve been following this story with a sense of horror. Because my son was sentenced in 2003 to 20-60 yrs in prison for raping a girl. And just like that piece of trash Nifong the prosecutor here was running for a seat, albeit a judge seat, still political gain. This little gal even admitted in the investigation, prelim, and trial that she had gone as far as asking around if a doctor could tell the difference between ” old sex and new sex” in a pelvic exam. She had been caught with her boyfriend under intimate circumstances and was being threatened with a doctor’s visit. She admitted that she just didn’t want her and her boyfriend to get into trouble, she didn’t know it would go this far. And she and her mother have a previous history with protective services here in Michigan of making just such accusations against multiple men to distract investigators and to hustle money. The difference between this case and my son was that we didn’t have the money for a lawyer and the public defender wasn’t willing to take the time and effort to defend my son. And the jerk even had the audacity to tell me to my face that if I had the money he had the time. So lets weigh what would have happened to those three boys and what happened to Nifong… Nifong should be in prison for the minimum of what their three combined sentences would have been,and when the suit goes to court they should make payments take up all resources to money and assets he had before this blew up in his face cause we all know Nifong will now be trying to hide it. And what happened to the hustling whore, I don’t care what job she has, she undoubtedly saw an opportunity to set up a scam to milk the families? She should have the same sentence as the one I described for Nifong. Instead I’ll bet she gets a shot on TV and a book deal. Before you come to Michigan you better check out the laws because our great state doesn’t need any evidence just an accusation from a woman or child and then you had better have really deep pockets cause around here we call it: “JUSTICE FOR ALL….WHO CAN AFFORD IT”
