Canada: Muslim Father killed daughter for not wearing hijab

A suburb in Toronto, Canada was hit with tragedy Tuesday after it was discovered that 16-year old Aqsa Parvez had been murdered.

What makes the situation worse is that the girl’s father has been arrested and charged with her murder. It turns out that the Parvez family are devout Muslims, and when their daughter refused to wear her hijab (Islamic head scarf) her father decided to kill her.

Muhammad Parvez, 57, was arrested at the scene and will be formally charged with murder when he appears in court Wednesday.

Police said in a statement they received an emergency call at 7:55 am local time Monday from “a man who indicated that he had just killed his daughter.”

According to her friends, Aqsa had worn the hijab at school last year, but rebelled in recent months.

They said she would leave home wearing a hijab and loose-fitting clothes, but would take off her head scarf and change into tighter garments at school, then change back before going home at the end of the day.

The victim’s 26 year-old brother was also charged with obstructing police in the investigation.

Her family didn’t think she was quite Muslim enough for them, so of course they killed her.

    this sitiuation is not to blame islam.Islam doesn’t say killing is allowed. If anyone is to be blamed, it is the victims father!I know the victim personally, and never expected this!I don’t think he should have been so forcive beacuse thats not what islam teaches…in islam you have a choice of wearing a hijab!

    In the Qur’aan, it is illegitimate to kill someone because you think that they are not muslim enough and so you can not blame the religion of Islam whatsoever because it promotes choice. Also, her father did not mean to kill her because if he did he would have not called 911.
    This is an example of freedom of speach and so if u do not post this on the website, u know that u r afraid of people supporting me and the truth coming out.
    Freedom of speech. Sue me.

    im Muslim, Islam has nothing to do with it….its the girls choice in islam to wear it or not, her dad has no right to judge if shes a good enoungh muslim

    I think a lot of Muslims in Southwest Pakistan would strongly disagree that wearing the Hijab is a choice.

    Right, he didn’t mean to kill her he just wanted to give her a savage beating.

    Islam about choice? That’s a good one.

    no reason to be so defensive, people. We have all seen the choice the guy gave to his daughter.

    And when you choke someone, of course, you really don’t mean to hurt that person.

    The most disgusting thing is that there were other people in the house when this happened and none of them did much to save her.
