Diana Verdict: Driver And Photographers to Blame
A London jury concluded today that the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Fayed were caused by the “grossly negligent driving” of her chauffeur, Henri Paul, and the paparazzi pursuing them.
The conclusion today comes after a six month inquest which heard testimony from over 250 witnesses. The jury, returning a majority verdict with nine in favor and two against, also concluded that by not wearing seat belts the couple contributed to their deaths.
The couple died on August 31, 1997, when their speeding car slammed into a concrete tunnel pillar while being chased through Paris by photographers in cars and on motorbikes.
Dodi’s father, the Harrods owner Mohamed al-Fayed still contends the couple were killed in a plot hatched by the British government to prevent Diana from giving birth to a child conceived with Dodi. However, to this day there has been no evidence that Princess Diana was even pregnant.
I don’t believe it was a conspiracy that killed Diana, but I definitely believe the paparazzi contributed significantly to her death. It’s only a matter of time until a celebrity in America is killed being chased by photographers who have absolutely no concern for anyone’s safety.
The insane tactics of the paparazzi combined with a slightly intoxicated driver and created the perfect conditions for a tragedy.
Diana’s death is a tragedy that unfortunately is destined to happen again unless new laws are drafted to put some kind of check on the lunatic paparazzi both in the U.S. and Britain.

It is totally rediculous that anyone is found to blame but Diana and Dodi. They were the ones intoxicated (drunk) and reckless. Noboby forced them to indulge in alchohol and race over 100 hundred miles per hour. They were in charge of the driver which was their employee.
So a photographer was taking pictures… that’s his job. He wasn’t hurting anyone. The only violation he committed was speeding himself to keep up.
This is another case of glorified people being above the law. What kind of person submits themselves to “virginity” requirements to get married to a guy much older, and has no character, personality, charisma or looks. Charles wears all of those military uniforms and medals… what has he ever done regarding sacrifice and bravery! Therefore, what it comes down to, she was a gold digger, an alchoholic, and reckless with her life and others.
I just can’t believe the system!
Now on the other hand we have Mother Theresa. Someone totally committed to serving others, always putting herself last. Yet her death received no attention compared to Diana. It is a perfect reflection of the ignorance of our society.
Diana should be no more an exception than anyone else where law is concerned.
Facts: 1: She chose to live in the spotlight in her pursuit of extreme wealth and fame. 2: She chose to indulge in alchohol.
3: She chose if not instructed her driver to speed over 100 miles an hour. 4: alchohol and speed were the causes of death… self inflicted! No photographer caused any of that.
I am sick of hearing about celebrities and high profile people demanding and achieving to be above the law.
Signed,
Sick of hearing about Diana. She was a typical human being, not a God, and not a Princess (a real Princess would be virtuous and leads with honor and responsibility).
Great blog!
Car accidents are on a dangerous rise. My neighbor was involved in a car accident he hired this los angeles accident attorney, who just nailed the guilty party not only to compensate for the damages but, also got my neighbor an extra income.
Moral of the story:
1)Lawyers might get you out (unbelievable)!
2)The party responsible should pay…
People were irresponsible and they should pay somehow. We lost someone who can never ever be replaced!!!
