I actually wish this was a joke, but unfortunately it’s a pretty good representation of where we are in terms of journalistic integrity.

Popular newswire AFP is reporting on what the handwriting of the presidential candidates says about them. I realize handwriting analysis is a legitimate science and is used routinely by law enforcement.

However, the conclusions reached by this particular analysis are a little too convenient to be taken seriously. Graphologist and hand-writing expert Sheila Lowe says the handwriting of this year’s candidates reveal a lot about them.

Conclusions:

John McCain – Proud, idealistic, but has a “short fuse”

Hillary Clinton – Intelligent, caring, “what-you-see-is-what-you-get personality,” ambitious, thinks with her head

Barack Obama – ambitious, self-confident, intelligent, diplomatic, can form a coalition
