The Left Has Found Another Racist

Hardly a day goes by that the lefty blogs don’t label someone somewhere a racist. If you call Obama a liberal your a racist. If you think Rev. Wright is a kook your a racist. If you don’t vote for Obama it’s because your a racist.

So it’s not at all surprising that when Courtney Hazlett, a reporter for the Obama Network (MSNBC), referred to Spike Lee as “uppity” when talking on-air about the Spike Lee-Clint Eastwood feud, she too was quickly labeled a racist.

    She referred to Spike Lee as uppity. That term is an assertion of white privilege. Essentially she told him to get back in place. Coming from a white woman of privilege this language is unacceptable and she should know better. Language like this is exactly how racism is perpetuated. Discourse becomes reified and then internalized.

    I don’t disagree that it was a poor choice of words or that she shouldn’t have said it. What I object to is labeling everyone who misspeaks a “racist.” Calling someone a racist is a serious charge, but the left throws it around so flippantly.
