NBC Reporter: Covering Barack Obama Makes My Knees Quake
If you thought NBC couldn’t possibly think of any new ways to express their deep love and unhealthy sexual attraction towards Barack Obama, you were wrong.
Take a look at NBC reporter Lee Cowan’s “Reporter’s Notebook” on The Peacock. He writes that when NBC told him he would be covering Barack Obama, it made his knees quake.
“When NBC News first assigned me to the Barack Obama campaign, I must confess my knees quaked a bit.”
Keep in mind that this is the same guy who famously said on the air that “it’s almost hard to stay objective” when covering Barack Obama.
Cowen goes on to describe his experience covering the campaign during the Iowa caucus. He says he barely had a chance to “savor” the Senator’s win before everyone was back on the bus heading to the next city.
“Presidential campaigns have always been tests of endurance, but this year, with the compressed calendar of contests, the challenge is Olympic. In Iowa, when Obama had his first caucus victory, there was hardly time to savor it. His victory speech had just ended when we were all thrust back out into the cold (and there is no cold like Iowa in January) and onto another plane to fly to New Hampshire.
Cowen doesn’t mention whether or not he asked to “bunk up” at night with Barack and Michelle, but I suspect he probably did.
Here is the video from January when Cowan made his “objective” comment to Brian Williams:
