The Washington Post’s political blog has a piece about the influence of the Drudge Report on politics. I think the fact that I discovered this article on the Drudge Report speaks for itself. Matt Drudge certainly has his detractors, but to deny the influence of his website on newsrooms across the nation is to have your head in the sand.
Drudge sets the tone for each and every news day. If you want to know what stories you should care about for the day, you turn to the Drudge Report. If a story makes it to Drudge, 9 times out of 10 it will be covered by the major news networks.
Personally, I think the Drudge Report is the most valuable site on the Internet. Most of Drudge’s critics are the same tone deaf morons who demonize Fox News constantly. Drudge doesn’t play political favorites and causes headaches for both Democrats and Republicans.
If you’re not reading the Drudge Report (if such people do still exist) then you damn sure should be.
