If you thought Barack Obama was arrogant before, wait until you hear this! A Denver TV station is reporting that volunteer work is mandatory if you want to see the Messiah speak at the convention.
The Obama campaign has begun notifying people who got tickets for the big acceptance speech at Invesco Field the final night of the convention.
Many of those who received tickets told 7NEWS they have come with a caveat.Those viewers said the campaign told them they must volunteer six hours for the campaign by Friday in order to get a ticket.
“I got a call that if I want the tickets I have to volunteer two shifts of three hours apiece — for one ticket. If I want two tickets, then it’s four shifts of two hours apiece,” said Berenice Christensen.
I’m not sure it really qualifies as “volunteer” work if it’s mandatory, but hey if The Messiah says it then it shall be.
A while back the Obama campaign told people in Denver that because of limited seating, those wishing to attend the speech should submit their names and the campaign would draw names at random and those people would get tickets.
Thousands of people submitted their names and now the campaign is awarding the tickets. However, when the folks chosen receive a call telling them they won tickets to the speech they’re also informed that in order to get those tickets they have to volunteer.
No word yet on whether you can score tickets if you agree to wash The Messiah’s feet during his speech. This is just the latest example of Obama’s elitism in all its glory. If you want to see “The One” speak, you’re gonna have put in some work.
To be fair, the Obama campaign says it’s only those who want “all star seating” who have to volunteer. If you don’t want to volunteer, then you supposedly retain your place in line for a “community credential” also known as a “wait in line for 10 hours and you might get a crappy seat” ticket.
I can only imagine what would be said if Republicans tried something like this. Democrats would decry the “greedy” GOP for treating supporters like “slave labor” (you know they would use that word too) and acting like capitalist thugs.
