To end this conversation let me just say that I appreciate you also attempting to give relatively well thought out responses to my comments (regardless of if I agree with them or not). As an owner of several blogs myself, I understand the importance of meaningful comments.

Would you care to exchange links as a gesture of political blogging solidarity? In the end I always support those who support Israel even if their American political ideologies don’t align with my own.

What I meant was that people who have never visited the Holy Land, Democrats in particular, are sometimes quick to minimize the threat that Israel remains under. The only reason Israel isn’t a war torn hell hole is due in large part to the exceptional police, intelligence services, and IDF. Israel remains surrounded by enemies on all sides and is under an extreme threat from Iran.

Secondly, I don’t even read those ridiculous propaganda emails about Obama being a Muslim, etc. I’m always quick to correct misinformed people who believe that crap.

Thirdly, my opinion as to the motives of many American Jews is simply that — an opinion.

Fourthly, the issue I have with Obama is largely based on his friends and associations — which are reflective of his economic philosophy and his general world view.

I don’t believe Barack is a bad man or somehow un-American himself, but I just can’t get past the kind of people he has chosen to surround himself with his entire adult life.

I’ve read both of Obama’s books and he says himself in ‘Dreams of My Father’ that he sought out the marxist elements on campus to hang with. This clearly carried over into his professional life as a community organizer through today. Every radical in Chicago from the Marxist Ayers, to the black nationalist Wright, to the Palestinian radical Khalidi — they all count Obama as a friend.

All these associations are clearly evident in his overall world view. You can read his books and listen to him in interviews, etc. going back many years and you begin to understand what he believes.

Obama does fundamentally believe in making society more “fair” through taxation and other methods. I hesitate to use the word socialism, because it gets people too riled up to talk about it — but that really is what he believes.

This whole tax cut for 95% of working Americans is so disingenuous. It’s total hogwash to be blunt about it.

Hoover and Carter share Obama’s economic philosophy and we know how that turned out. To think it’s going to have a different result is not realistic.

Lastly, the way the media has behaved this election season is completely despicable. The idea that only a racist would vote against Obama has assured that I will indeed vote against him.

The attacks on Sarah Palin have also been unprecedented and outrageous — further solidifying my vote against Obama.

I could go on, but I’ll spare you.

um… yeah. That may have a little something to do with it. Not the “We live in a war zone! Vote McCain!” crap.

I’m voting Democratic this election year so by saying that I’m foolish is something I obviously don’t agree with. My candidate is willing to support Israel NO MATTER WHAT. The American Jews in Israel who are supporting are demographically Republican anyway. Most American Jews who make aliya to Israel vote conservative anyway. Living in Israel means jack shit to how they’re voting. In fact, the majority of native Israelis that I knew personally and met in passing all support Obama over McCain.

I’m not sure why you’re focusing on “Hollywood Jews” since they’re such a relatively small percentage of American Jews. Regardless, their choice to vote Democratic has no relation to ever visiting Israel. You paint Israel as a war torn hell hole when I reality, it’s nothing of the sort. What you’re describing is a radicalized and unstable country. This simply isn’t true. Period. If you’ve been to Israel, then you know this already.

Lastly, Obama has stood by Israel just as strongly as McCain. And THAT’S the truth. Whatever email forward you happening to reading about Obama destroying Israel or partying with Hamas or that he’s a Nazi is untrue. Only the ignorant believe such dribble. I’d hope someone who writes for (what seems to be) relatively decent news blog would be able to see past the bullshit.
