Obama won the election and I say good for him. However, the idea that he won because voters liked his position on the issues is total nonsense.
Barack Obama won because he turned himself into a pop culture phenomenon. He could have stood on stage and read the phone book as long as he sprinkled some “hope” and “change” in there somewhere.
I never met a single Obama supporter during the run up to the election who could give me an actual reason they were supporting Obama. In fact, the only answer I ever got from anyone was that he stood for “hope and change.”
Having said that, what he pulled off would not have been possible had he not run a nearly flawless campaign, totally dominated the Internet, and had the media in his back pocket.
