Pastor Ted Haggard who was once the most powerful evangelical minister in the country until it was discovered he’d been banging male prostitutes, is the subject of a new documentary by Alexandra Pelosi. In the film, Haggard tells of his life long struggle with his sexuality but says he intends to make his marriage work for the sake of his kids.
It’s pretty sad that Haggard continues to live in denial. He’s gay and needs to just accept that. It wasn’t fair for him to get married and start a family knowing all along that he was really gay. I myself am a Christian and believe that people are absolutely born gay. Furthermore, if that’s the case and God created man then he also created gay men. In Haggard’s case, I think the real sin he’s committing is lying to himself and not living as the person he was born to be.
Anyone who claims they’re a Christian, but would shun Ted Haggard because of his sexuality is not a Christian. Having said that, it was wrong for him to pretend to be an evangelical crusader and telling people that homosexuality is an abomination all the while banging male hookers.
