Flashback: In 2006 51% Of Democrats Wanted Bush To Fail

March 9, 2009 · Filed Under Legal News, Liberals, Politics

Democrats have been carping about republicans supposedly wanting president Obama to fail based on comments from Rush Limbaugh they knowingly took out of context. But let’s take a trip down memory lane and see how democrats felt about president bush…

If you recall, democrats were quite vocal about their hopes that president Bush would fail and that the surge in Iraq would fail. In fact, they hoped the war in Iraq would fail right from the outset. The left worked towards Bush’s failure from the second he set foot into office to the time he left office. They pelted his car with eggs on inauguration day in 2000 and didn’t let up for 8 years. Hell, they haven’t let up yet and he’s out of office.

In a 2006 poll, when asked whether they wanted to see president Bush succeed or not, here’s the breakdown:

Democrats: 40%(want him to succeed) 51%(want him to fail)

Republicans: 90%(want him to succeed) 7%(want him to fail)

Independents: 63%(want him to succeed) 34%(want him to fail)

Think about this poll and the many other polls just like it next time you hear Rahm Emanuel or some liberal shocked and appalled that anyone would want to see Obama fail (even though Rush was taken out of context and never said that).

I would love to know how the poll question was phrased. Having been in 2006, I think it fair to say that very few Americans had failed to notice that Mr. Bush and his followers had already failed in Wagnerian proportions. I realize that the current leadership of the Right is trying desperately to blame the current Administration for their own failures in belief and practice. One statement I heard today from some Republican spokesperson claimed that Mr. Obama was mortgaging our children’s future, which I found amazing; how much worse could he make the mess left to him by god-fearing, right-thinking Republican and Conservative administrations? Unless of course, Mr. Limbaugh is right, as he claimed, and everything, including the Donatist Heresy and Mr. Limbaugh’s drug addicitons, is the fault of Bill Clinton.

I agree it’s pretty hypocritical of dems to be crying over this.

Anyway, stop being disingenuous about Rush’s comment, he has repeated the line over and over, he wants him to fail, the end.

You’re wrong about Rush. The Dems only play half his statement. He said he wants Obama to fail IF he intends on passing a socialist agenda. He then followed that up by saying he wants America to succeed.

    Bill,

I’m surprised you bring up Rush’s past drug problems, I though liberals didn’t make judgments on personal behavior.

Yeah, Obama is mortgaging our children’s future. He railed against the Bush deficit, got himself elected, and doubled it within the first month of his presidency.

Obama railed against earmarks and promised to go line by line in the budget and cutout earmarks and wasteful spending. Now that he’s in office he’s about to sign a bloated budget with 9,000 earmarks in it.

He also passed a 760 billion dollar stimulus bill that provided no actual stimulus.

In his short time in office, he’s spent more money than any human being in the history of the world. Money we don’t have and won’t have now or in the foreseeable future.

    Don’t be such a douchebag.
