Case Dismissed Against 3 Racist Black Panthers

May 29, 2009 · Filed Under Politics, Racism · Comment

New-Black-Panther-Party

This from The Washington Times:

Justice Department political appointees overruled career lawyers and ended a civil complaint accusing three members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense of wielding a nightstick and intimidating voters at a Philadelphia polling place last Election Day, according to documents and interviews.

The incident – which gained national attention when it was captured on videotape and distributed on YouTube – had prompted the government to sue the men, saying they violated the 1965 Voting Rights Act by scaring would-be voters with the weapon, racial slurs and military-style uniforms.

This was an open and shut case of racism and voter intimidation that was caught on video, but the Obama Justice Department chose to dismiss it — purely coincidental I’m sure.

Here’s what a prominent 1960s civil rights activist said about the incident:

Career lawyers pursued the case for months, including obtaining an affidavit from a prominent 1960s civil rights activist who witnessed the confrontation and described it as “the most blatant form of voter intimidation” that he had seen, even during the voting rights crisis in Mississippi a half-century ago.

This goes right along with the far left thinking that currently permeates The White House and most of the government.

The same people who spent a lifetime fighting racial discrimination against blacks, now suddenly don’t worry about it too much when it’s reversed. Racist blacks can say anything and do anything, without anyone saying a word about it.

Ironically, members of the so-called New Black Panther Party were on National Geographic a couple of months back smearing Barack Obama, saying he was a tool of the white devil, etc.

These black racists are no different than Neo-Nazi skin head groups or any other hate groups. Yet, somehow the far-left still feels a kind of kinship with these fools.

I don’t dispute the legitimate need for groups like the Panthers back in the 1960s, but this new group is nothing like the original and is totally uncalled for today.

The Eric Holder DOJ will no doubt continue this kind of one-sided justice just as Sonia Sotomayor did with the white firefighters who were denied promotions because they were white.

Everyone in America should be subject to the same rules regardless of skin color or ethnicity.

Sotomayor Is Member Of ‘La Raza’

May 28, 2009 · Filed Under Politics, U.S. News · 1 Comment

According to WorldNetDaily, Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor is a member of the controversial Hispanic organization known as “La Raza” which promotes amnesty and open border policies.

I can’t imagine this could be much of a shock to anyone that she would be a member of that group.

As I said yesterday, republicans should vigorously make their case against her to the American people based on her long record of judicial activism.

The area we should steer clear of is in talking about stuff like this. The democrats are going to hammer the fact that she’s a Latina, blah, blah, blah.

For us to take the bait and start talking about her membership in La Raza is inevitably going to escalate until something is said that offends Hispanics and the democrats are going to jump on it.

Obama chose this woman because of her race and her gender. Republicans need to talk about her record and leave the phony identity politics to the democrats.

Let’s stay focused on her judicial activism and save the immigration debates for another time.

Reporter Dragged Away From Near Air Force One

I’m sure we’ll hear all kinds of White House spin about this situation later today, but here’s what NBC is reporting:

A reporter for a small newspaper was forcibly removed from a press area near Air Force One shortly before President Barack Obama arrived at Los Angeles International Airport to depart California early Thursday.

Airport security officers carried the woman away by the feet and arms as she protested her removal.

She later identified herself as Brenda Lee, a writer for the Georgia Informer in Macon and said she has White House press credentials. The newspaper’s Web site says it is a monthly publication, and a Brenda Lee column is posted on it.

The story is that the woman asked a Secret Service agent if he would give the president a letter for her. The agent refused and referred her to a White House staffer.

The woman, Brenda Lee, refused to give it to the staffer and said she would just hang on to it and give it to the president herself if he walked by.

The staffer became visibly annoyed that she would not give him the letter and he had her escorted outside the gate.

Later on, the officers allowed her return if she promised not to get rowdy and yell or wave her arms. However, moments later “other” officers appeared and told her to leave.

When she refused, they physically picked her up and dragged her away.

According to NBC, the letter from Lee was to encourage president Obama to stand-up for traditional marriage.

I guess Ms. Lee wasn’t aware that like Miss California, the president believes marriage should indeed be between one man and one woman — much to the chagrin of the gay community who continue to pretend this isn’t so.

Miss California Carrie Prejean made her debut this morning as co-host of Fox & Friends on the Fox News Channel.

She did an amazing job and fit in perfectly on the show. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see Fox boss Roger Ailes offer her a permanent gig somewhere on the channel.

Minorities Only Count If They’re Liberal

May 27, 2009 · Filed Under Liberals, Politics · Comment

If there’s one thing liberals love it’s identity politics. They play it at every opportunity and they play it well.

Since president Obama named judge Sonia Sotomayor as his choice for the supreme court, liberals have been cooing about her rise from the inner city and everything she had to overcome, blah, blah, blah.

Liberals love to name “firsts” and then constantly remind republicans that they’re naming a “first” and then dare them to oppose that “first.”

One must be careful not to get too carried away criticizing the first black president. Criticism could well be interrupted as racism and nobody wants that!

By the same token, Obama chose Sotomayor because in the mind of democrats (and sadly most republicans) opposing the first Hispanic woman to the court is dangerous ground and should be done with extreme caution.

Liberals aren’t actually interested in diversity, they’re interested in using the pursuit of diversity as a weapon.

When naming the first woman or minority to a particular position, if democrats cannot in some way benefit from it they don’t talk about it or pretend it didn’t happen.

Justice Clarence Thomas is a prime example of this. Because he’s not a radical leftist nothing he does counts for anything in the eyes of most liberals and more importantly most blacks.

Sen. Claire McCaskill made the stunning claim yesterday on Fox News that Obama’s nomination of Sotomayor was important, because no one currently on the court comes from an impoverished background. “That’s something new,” she added.

I suspect that was the moment Justice Clarence Thomas kicked his TV over. Not only is Thomas a black man sitting on the Supreme Court (appointed by a republican), but he comes from the poorest background imaginable.

In his memoirs, Thomas recounts a childhood of poverty that judge Sotomayor could not in her wildest dreams imagine. She grew up like royalty compared to the adversity that Thomas faced.

McCaskill’s claim is one of the most ignorant statements ever uttered. But it speaks to the larger point that in McCaskill’s eyes and in the eyes of most liberals Sotomayor really would be the first.

Clarence Thomas is a black conservative which makes him both an enemy to democrats and an enemy to most blacks.

What he believes and what he’s accomplished in life mean nothing. As far as most liberals are concerned there is no black man on the Supreme Court.

You see the same kind of treatment when it comes to Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice.

Colin Powell was the first black Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and the first black Secretary of State, but did you ever hear the media cooing about that? Nope. Never.

Did you get a chance to read all those columns in the NY Times during the last eight years about what a progressive guy Bush was for putting so many black people in positions of power? Me either, I’m still trying to find them.

Had he been a democrat appointed by a democrat you would hear about it ad nauseam for years even decades to come.

Dr. Condoleezza Rice who herself came from very impoverished beginnings in the south when racism was at its very worst.

Rice was the first black national security adviser and a woman to boot. She went on to be the first black female Secretary of State. Once again, did you hear the media gushing about any of that? Not just no, but hell no!

Like Powell, she’s a republican appointed to a position of power by republicans. Therefore, those “firsts” don’t count. Like Clarence Thomas, Rice and Powell are also heretics and enemies of both democrats (Powell not so much lately) and most blacks.

Think about how significant it is that both of president Bush’s Secretary of State picks were African-American. I don’t remember ever reading a column or magazine article applauding president Bush for appointing so many minorities to his cabinet. You can imagine the books, movies, documentaries, and monuments that would have been created to honor a democratic president for doing the exact same thing.

It’s interesting that the party most often labeled “racist” is also the party that has put more minorities in positions of power. Unlike democrats, this wasn’t done to make a political statement they were simply the best people for the job.

Republicans should not bow to political correctness on Sonia Sotomayor. They should ignore her ethnicity and gender (no matter how many times liberals bring it up) and focus on her judicial record.

It’s pointless to fret about being called a racist, because liberals are always going to call throw that bomb around no matter what.

If you’re a republican and you dare to question a liberal you WILL be labeled racist, sexist, homophobe, bigot, hatemonger, and any combination of those. Get over it.

I believe the American people by and large can see through the race baiting and identity politics the democrats so often play.

The important thing is for republicans to challenge Sotomayor’s record and show the American people why judicial activists like her are bad for the country.

There’s little doubt that Sotomayor will eventually be confirmed. However, republicans can still count it as a win if they present an effective case to the public about why she’s a judicial activist and what that means for them.

The most important thing for republicans to remember is that by not engaging on issues the democrats have labeled as racially sensitive it only make things worse.

Playing the race and gender card has been such a success for democrats over the years that they’re using it more and more.

Republicans need to aggressively make their case and let the chips fall where they may.

Ralph Peters: Terrorists Should Be Killed On The Spot

May 26, 2009 · Filed Under Politics, War on Terror · 2 Comments

I’m glad to see someone finally make the point in a major newspaper that I’ve been making on this blog for a long time. That we could eliminate the issues surrounding Gitmo if the terrorists were just executed on the battlefield after their interrogations.

Col. Ralph Peters writes in the NY Post today:

WE made one great mistake regarding Guantanamo: No terrorist should have made it that far. All but a handful of those grotesquely romanticized prisoners should have been killed on the battlefield.

The few kept alive for their intelligence value should have been interrogated secretly, then executed.

Terrorists don’t have legal rights or human rights. By committing or abetting acts of terror against the innocent, they place themselves outside of humanity’s borders. They must be hunted as man-killing animals.

Everyone should read the column in its entirety — it’s the best one of 2009.

Contrary to the ACLU narrative about America, we’re actually too nice and too humane when it comes to waging war.

I believe we should do everything in our power to avoid killing civilians, but when it comes to terrorists I believe we should have little mercy.

The CIA was on the right track with the secret black sites for interrogation in addition to Gitmo.

Unfortunately, it’s impossible for anyone to keep their damn mouths shut about any secret program. You simply cannot have a secret that won’t eventually end up on the front page of the NY Slimes Times.

For this reason, the strategy should be to imbed interrogators with special forces units.

When a high value terrorist is captured, he should be made to talk on the spot by any means necessary. After every last tidbit of information has been extracted he should be executed on the spot.

Then we have the information we need and without liberals howling about so-called “rights” for terrorists.

Obama Picks Sotomayor

May 26, 2009 · Filed Under Legal News · Comment

Sonia_Sotomayor

President Obama announced today that federal appeals judge Sonia Sotomayor is his choice to replace Justice David Souter on the Supreme Court.

Here’s what the AP has about her:

Sotomayor is a self-described "Newyorkrican" who grew up in a Bronx housing project after her parents moved to New York from Puerto Rico. She has dealt with diabetes since age 8 and lost her father at age 9, growing up under the care of her mother in humble surroundings. As a girl, inspired by the Perry Mason television show, she knew she wanted to be a judge.

A graduate of Princeton University and Yale Law School, a former prosecutor and private attorney, Sotomayor became a federal judge for the Southern District of New York in 1992.

As a judge, she has a bipartisan pedigree. She was first appointed by a Republican, President George H.W. Bush, then named an appeals judge by President Bill Clinton in 1997.

At her Senate confirmation hearing more than a decade ago, she said, "I don’t believe we should bend the Constitution under any circumstance. It says what it says. We should do honor to it."

In one of her most memorable rulings as federal district judge, Sotomayor essentially salvaged baseball in 1995, ruling with players over owners in a labor strike that had led to the cancellation of the World Series.

As an appellate judge, she sided with the city of New Haven, Conn., in a discrimination case brought by white firefighters after the city threw out results of a promotion exam because two few minorities scored high enough. Ironically, that case is now before the Supreme Court.

Just because she was first appointed by President George H.W. Bush doesn’t mean she has a “bipartisan pedigree” like the AP claims.

Make no mistake about it, Sotomayor is a liberal through and through. One only has to look at her judicial record to know this.

She’ll be a reliable tool of labor unions (like our president) and will rule in favor of minorities not because they have the best legal case but because she has “empathy.”

Having said all that, Obama can nominate anyone he wants and at this moment in time Republicans can do little to stand in the way.

All things considered Obama could have picked someone much worse. Sotomayor is not going to change the balance of the court so it’s really not that big a deal.

It’s the next SCOTUS pick that’s going to change the game.

As liberal as Sotomayor is, I suspect Obama’s next pick is going to make her seem to the right of Scalia.

U.N. Security Council Meets Over North Korea Nuke Test — North Keeps Laughing

May 25, 2009 · Filed Under Politics · 4 Comments

DPRK-Nukes

You don’t have to be a diplomat to know exactly how this North Korea nuclear test is going to shake out.

The fallout (politically) from the detonation of a 10-20 megaton nuclear bomb by the North Koreans will be exactly as Kim Jong-il assumed it would be — zero.

This entire episode is just so damn predictable. The U.N. is a toothless, pointless organization that reacts to every situation the same way no matter how serious it is.

The U.N. Security Council convened an emergency meeting today at the request of Japan to discuss yesterday’s nuclear test by North Korea.

As usual, each member of the council feigned outrage and spoke of disappointment in the North’s actions.

Last night, president Obama issued his own weak statement on the nuke test:

Today, North Korea said that it has conducted a nuclear test in violation of international law. It appears to also have attempted a short range missile launch. These actions, while not a surprise given its statements and actions to date, are a matter of grave concern to all nations. North Korea’s attempts to develop nuclear weapons, as well as its ballistic missile program, constitute a threat to international peace and security.

By acting in blatant defiance of the United Nations Security Council, North Korea is directly and recklessly challenging the international community. North Korea’s behavior increases tensions and undermines stability in Northeast Asia. Such provocations will only serve to deepen North Korea’s isolation. It will not find international acceptance unless it abandons its pursuit of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery.

The danger posed by North Korea’s threatening activities warrants action by the international community. We have been and will continue working with our allies and partners in the Six-Party Talks as well as other members of the U.N. Security Council in the days ahead.

Obama says the North is acting in “blatant defiance of the United Nations Security Council” as if this is something new.

Who doesn’t act in defiance of the UN Security Council? The North has been in defiance of the security council for years just like Iran.

The reason the world’s enemies act in blatant defiance of the UN is because they know nothing will happen.

Being in violation of the security council means an angry press release will be issued about you when you do something bad.

In fact, had it not been for president Bush, Saddam Hussein would still be sitting in one of his palaces in blatant violation of 17 UN Security Council resolutions.

It is unbelievable that a deadbeat, broke down, piss poor little dictatorship like North Korea is allowed to hold the world hostage with its nuclear threats.

South Korea in partnership with the U.S. could destroy the North’s ability to wage war and topple the Stalinist government in one day.

The issue for everyone in the region and the reason China resists doing anything that might topple the North is the refugee issue.

If the government in North Korea were toppled it would mean millions of starving, sickly, and brainwashed North Koreans pouring over the borders of China and South Korea.

Both countries agree that this would be a disaster for their economies, and I think that’s probably right.

So the solution to this vexing problem is for the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and China to begin building the necessary infrastructure to care for North Korean refugees.

Plans could be put in place for the feeding, clothing, etc. of the population immediately after the liquidation of the current government.

After the necessary preparations and plans were in place to deal with the humanitarian situation, the U.S. and South Korea could strike the North and cripple its military and eliminate the government leadership.

When countries like North Korea know you’re only interested in talking to resolve disputes, why in the hell should they do anything you say?
