I have to say, I’m pretty stunned about this. Not going for a second term is one thing, but resigning is quite another thing entirely.

I just can’t imagine Palin allowing her critics to win by leaving public office. Maybe that Vanity Fair hit piece was the last straw, but that was mostly just recycled garbage.

If she does have further political ambitions, this was not a good move. I’m sure we’re going to hear the real story on all this in the coming days.

As of right now however, this is nothing short of a political earthquake.

I don’t think it will be feasible for her to re-enter the political scene if that’s what she’s planning on doing in a few years.
