I don’t watch a lot of reality television these days. I did in the beginning years ago when it was a new thing. However, one show I do watch religiously is American Idol. I watch every episode of every season without fail. I even feel compelled to vote from time to time. Sometimes more than once.
Not surprisingly, the slick package that you see twice a week on Fox isn’t exactly reality.
Richard Rushfield over at The Daily Beast pulls back the curtain on one of American’s favorite programs.
I’m always a little reluctant to read an exposé on a show I like, because I don’t like very many of them.
It’s horrible to discover that your favorite show is a fraud. But don’t worry people — American Idol is no fraud. There’s just a little more to it than what you see on TV.
A fraud would be the repugnant Jersey Shore on MTV.
