It’s no secret that the American people are plain fed up with corruption in Washington and sleazy politicians who are drunk with power — among other things.
So it is in this climate that I bring you a story that will cause a range of emotions within you. It made me want to laugh, cry, and punch somebody in the face all at the same time.
Senator Roland Burris (the man former Gov. Blago sold gave Obama’s Senate seat to) actually built a monument back in Chicago…to himself.
Burris had a marble monument built on his future grave site at the Chicago Oak Woods Cemetery. Etched into the marble is the state seal of Illinois and below that are his accomplishments up to this point — his brief stint in the Senate to be added soon.
I just can’t relate to this kind of thing. It’s just plain gross. Why do you need to have your “accomplishments” etched into marble on a big ass mausoleum?
If you deserve a big ass monument then someone will build one for you after you’re dead. This is exactly the kind of person you don’t want representing you in Washington. People who feel the need to build monuments to themselves are interested in power — not serving the people.
That big gaudy monument should be put on t-shirts. It represents everything that is wrong with Washington and government in general. It may seem trivial to some people, but it’s not. It’s symptomatic of a mindset these scummy politicians have. It’s a sense of entitlement and phony delusions of grandeur that just make me sick.
