I don’t agree with a lot of Elton John’s political views, but I really think he’s a hero when it comes to stuff like this. Elton actually thinks for himself instead falling into line like a mindless drone and doing what everyone else does.
He played a sold out show in Tucson last Thursday and lashed out at other musicians who refuse to play in Arizona because of the new immigration law.
"We are all very pleased to be playing in Arizona. I have read that some of the artists won’t come here. They are (expletive)wits! Let’s face it: I still play in California, and as a gay man I have no legal rights whatsoever. So what’s the (expletive) with these people?"
He reacted in a similar fashion after the Israeli flotilla scandal. Predictably, a wide range of bands refused to play in Israel out of protest. Being cool and liberal means loving Palestinians and hating Jews dontcha know!
Anyway, Elton would have none of it. He played to a sold out crowd in Israel and lashed out at critics and boycotters.
Elton John also played at Rush Limbaugh’s wedding recently and has said publicly he considers Limbaugh a friend.
