Striking Verizon Workers Sabotage Cable Lines

From Boston.com:

Verizon Communications Inc. reported a dozen cases of sabotaged cable lines and warned of delays in repairs and customer service on the second day of a strike involving about 45,000 employees.

The telecommunications company said there have been 12 acts of sabotage to telephone lines and to Internet and television services in Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York since the strike began.

Fiber-optic lines were intentionally cut in Tewksbury and several other municipalities on the East Coast, the company said.

Stolen equipment in Cedar Grove, N.J., affected service to a police department, and a heat system was tampered with at a central office in Manhattan.

“This could be a dangerous situation if people need to reach fire, police, or emergency responders and can’t use their phone,’’ said Phil Santoro, a spokesman for Verizon.

Verizon is offering a $50,000 reward “for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of individuals that intentionally damage Verizon cables or facilities or cause or attempt to cause physical injury to any Verizon employee or contractor.’’

It’s outrageous, un-American, and illegal for militant unions to try and destroy a company if they don’t get their way. Why do telecommunication workers need a union anyway? It’s bizarre. I hope Verizon doesn’t cave. Companies cannot negotiate with terrorists or give in to their sabotage. The whole thing really is sick.

In an era of opportunist , greed and theft… breed it along
with a failed economy and record unemployment rate… add it to the already
existing criminal element that existed… you have hundreds of individuals and
groups that would benefit from the allegations Verizon is claiming.  A company that is crying poverty but the
records shows high profits and unprecedented corporate greed. They are quick to
point a finger at the striking union members for these thefts and damages
because it is the easy and beneficial (for them) thing to do to solicit public
support. Logically, If they know it is striking union members, then they know
who it is and can prove it. Yet, they have not filed any charges against
anyone. Why? Because, they cannot prove anything. It would be easy for anyone
to put on a red shirt and impersonate a striking employee and cause damage or
    robbery.

Yeah, and it’s so far fetched to imagine union members sabotaging a company they’re putting the screws to. Secondly, I didn’t hear Verizon claiming poverty. Only that their equipment is being sabotaged. It’s interesting that you would cite record unemployment. One would think a telecommunications worker would count himself lucky to have a job right now, not refuse to work. If I were running Verizon I’d fire every last one of those striking bastards. I’d put an ad in the paper offering employment to those want to work.

So you want the middle class people to make less money and the CEO’s and executives to make more?  That is what is going on here.  You obviously aren’t in a union.  The CEO of Verizon wants to pay less to those “stinking bastards” as you put it.  WHY????  So he and his elite friends can make more?  So you tell me, why should these workers agree to make less money?  Before 1983, almost all middle class families made good livings, the people that ran the companies made good livings, everyone was happy.  But then after the air traffic controllers were fired, CEO’s started realizing they could capitalize on getting rid of the unions.  So where is our country today?  Less union workers, more poverty, but the elite CEO managers are making an unreasonable amount of money.  They want all their workers to take cuts in pay, but you notice, he receives larger bonuses when that happens.  Bash unions all you want.  They usually always make more money than not.

Verizon is only asking that workers kick in $100 a month for their health insurance. It’s not that big of a deal. It’s crazy to expect 100% free health insurance when times are tough. And no, I’m sure as shit not in a union. I would never be in a union. But you never addressed the sabotage issue. This class warfare crap is nuts. You should go live in Europe.

Support the unions!!!!  I don’t know why people wouldn’t support the unions.  They are there to give people better working conditions and better pay.  Before Reagan fired the air traffic controllers, most jobs were union.  EVERYONE was doing fine and making a good living.  Now, the CEO’s and their group of croonies make outrageous salaries and bonuses, and want to pay the least amount they can for workers.  Verizon is not losing money, they simply want to make more!

This blog entry is quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Never mind. I just read his comments below. They are far more unsmart.
