guns 300x225 Americans Bought Enough Guns In 3 Months To Outfit Entire Chinese And Indian Army Combined

According to AmmoLand.com, Americans bought enough firearms in 3 months to outfit the entire Chinese and Indian Army combined. Moreover, Americans bought more than 1.5 billion rounds of ammunition in the month of December alone.

Whenever I think all might be lost for this country, I read statistics like that and I know we’ll be fine. Americans are smart to buy as much firepower as they can, because contrary to his rhetoric Barack Obama is the most anti-gun president we’ve ever had.

The 90 Percent Myth: Only 17% Of Guns In Mexico Traced Back To U.S.

April 3, 2009 · Filed Under Crime, Gun Control · Comment

033009_drugcartel

You know that statistic gun grabbing politicians have been relentlessly shilling in the press for weeks? The one claiming that 90% of all weapons used to commit crimes in Mexico come from the United States.

The only problem with that statistic is that it’s a total and complete lie. It’s one of the most dishonest stats ever to be uttered by a politician.

The truth is that only 17% of guns found at Mexican crime scenes or recovered in Mexico are traced back to the U.S.

When confronted with this, a spokesman from The ATF told Fox News that 90 percent of traced firearms originate from the U.S. The keyword here is traced.

The facts:

In 2007-2008, according to ATF Special Agent William Newell, Mexico submitted 11,000 guns to the ATF for tracing. Close to 6,000 were successfully traced — and of those, 90 percent — 5,114 to be exact, according to testimony in Congress by William Hoover — were found to have come from the U.S.

But in those same two years, according to the Mexican government, 29,000 guns were recovered at crime scenes.

In other words, 68 percent of the guns that were recovered were never submitted for tracing. And when you weed out the roughly 6,000 guns that could not be traced from the remaining 32 percent, it means 83 percent of the guns found at crime scenes in Mexico could not be traced to the U.S.

The vast majority of guns are smuggled into Mexico from Russia, China, and South America. Most of the AK-47’s used by the cartels that John Kerry and Attorney General Eric Holder are always crying about do not come from America.

Most are fully automatic and have been illegal to own in the U.S. since the mid 1980’s. The drug cartels use their vast financial resources to buy shipments of fully automatic weapons from the third world.

Hand grenades and machine guns from South Korea and China have been recovered. Guatemala is also a major source of weapons getting into Mexico.

The other issue is corruption on the part of the Mexican military. Legitimate shipments of fully automatic M16 rifles from Colt have been sold to the Mexican government only to turn up later in the hands of drug cartel assassins.

According to Mexican officials, more than 150,000 Mexican soldiers have deserted in the last 6 years and most took their weapons with them.

You know our politicians know all this, but they continue to peddle these outrageous lies in the public as an excuse to pass more gun laws.

Democrats didn’t give a damn about border security until they saw an opportunity for a gun grab. This is an outright attempt to spread propaganda about what is really happening in Mexico.

Video: Gun Sales Continue To Soar Amidst “Hope&Change”

January 26, 2009 · Filed Under Gun Control, Video · Comment

Guns are continuing to fly off store shelves as they have been ever since it looked like Obama would win the election. I can say personally, that I’ve never seen this kind of surge in gun sales. You can’t get semi-automatic rifles anywhere, because they’re hopelessly on back order. I’ve been waiting for more than a month to get my M4 and have scoured the Internet looking for one. Every make and model is completely sold out. It’s even difficult to get 500 round cases of ammo in some calibers.

As Obama sets out to remake America into Sweden it’s at least comforting to know that some of us well be well armed.

Bill To Reauthorize Assault Weapons Ban — Submitted By Five Republicans

ak 47 300x200 Bill To Reauthorize Assault Weapons Ban Submitted By Five Republicans

With the incoming left-wing administration it was only a matter of time until the repugnant ‘Assault Weapons Ban’ reared its head again. What I didn’t expect was for republicans to be responsible for it. However, I guess it’s just par for the course given the state of the GOP.

The Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008 is being sponsored by five, I repeat five republicans.

To borrow a line from John McCain, I think we need to make them famous…

Sponsor:
Rep. Mark Kirk [R-IL]

Cosponsors [as of 2008-11-07]
Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen [R-FL]
Rep. Michael Ferguson [R-NJ]
Rep. Christopher Shays [R-CT]
Rep. Michael Castle [R-DE]

This is an outrage on the 2nd amendment and must be opposed vigorously. Visit The Arsenal and take the assault weapons ban quiz.

As a result of this news, I had to order this as a Christmas present to myself.

Victory: Heller Gets His Gun Permit

August 18, 2008 · Filed Under Gun Control · Comment

The man whose lawsuit overturned Washington’s handgun ban has successfully registered his handgun, ending a more than 30-year wait to keep the weapon in his home. Dick Heller walked triumphantly out of a D.C. police station today with his permit in hand.

It’s a shame that Heller had to go all the way to the Supreme Court merely to excercise his right as an American, but thank God he did. Thanks to Dick Heller the SCOTUS has said once and for all that Americans have the consitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms.

Texas School District Will Allow Teachers To Carry Guns

August 15, 2008 · Filed Under Gun Control · 6 Comments

It looks like a Texas school district will be first in the nation to finally take a common sense approach to school shootings. Rather than allow students to be lambs waiting to be slaughtered by a crazed gunman, teachers in one tiny Texas town will be able to intervene.

A tiny Texas school district may be the first in the nation to allow teachers and staff to pack guns for protection when classes begin later this month, a newspaper reported.

Trustees at the Harrold Independent School District approved a district policy change last October so employees can carry concealed firearms to deter and protect against school shootings, provided the gun-toting teachers follow certain requirements.

In order for teachers and staff to carry a pistol, they must have a Texas license to carry a concealed handgun; must be authorized to carry by the district; must receive training in crisis management and hostile situations and have to use ammunition that is designed to minimize the risk of ricochet in school halls.

Superintendent David Thweatt said the small community is a 30-minute drive from the sheriff’s office, leaving students and teachers without protection. He said the district’s lone campus sits 500 feet from heavily trafficked U.S. 287, which could make it a target.

“When the federal government started making schools gun-free zones, that’s when all of these shootings started. Why would you put it out there that a group of people can’t defend themselves? That’s like saying ’sic ‘em’ to a dog,” Thweatt said in Friday’s online edition of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

It’s at times likes this that I’m most proud of being a Texan. Every law abiding citizen should have the right to defend his or herself in America. So called “gun free zones” are absurd, because then the only person with a gun is the crazed lunatic.

Had a teacher had a gun at Virginia Tech, it’s very unlikely that lunatic would have been able to murder 31 people before killing himself. The idea is to at the very least stop a school shooting from turning into a double-digit blood bath.

Texas Man Cleared In Shooting Of Burglers

A grand jury cleared a Pasadena, Texas, man today in the shooting deaths of two suspected burglars as they left his neighbor’s house — a case that stirred a national debate over whether he was a vigilante or a hero.

For the vast majority of people here in Texas Joe Horn is without a doubt a hero. Horn noticed two men crawling out of his neighbor’s window carrying stolen loot in broad daylight, and chose to intervene.

Supreme Court: Ban On Handguns “Incompatible” With Second Amendment

June 26, 2008 · Filed Under Gun Control, U.S. News · Comment

freedomcrop Supreme Court: Ban On Handguns Incompatible With Second Amendment

The Supreme Court struck down Washington D.C.’s ban on handguns as unconstitutional. Justice Scalia wrote the majority opinion saying in part that an outright ban on handguns is incompatible with the second amendement.

Writing for the majority, Justice Antonin Scalia said that an individual right to bear arms is supported by “the historical narrative” both before and after the Second Amendment was adopted.

The Constitution does not permit “the absolute prohibition of handguns held and used for self-defense in the home,” Scalia said. The court also struck down Washington’s requirement that firearms be equipped with trigger locks or kept disassembled, but left intact the licensing of guns.

Scalia noted that the handgun is Americans’ preferred weapon of self-defense in part because “it can be pointed at a burglar with one hand while the other hand dials the police.”

This was absolutely the right decision. There are few rights as fundamental to being an American as our right to keep and bear arms.

Unless you are a felon or mentally disabled in some way, the State can no longer prevent the ownership of handguns. Washington D.C. has had the strictest gun laws in the country with an outright ban on handgun ownership. Ironically, Washington D.C. is also home to the worst gun violence in America.

No state official yet has explained how the only place in America with an outright handgun ban has some of the worst handgun violence. The idea that no one will have a gun because it’s against the law is comical.

Criminals will continue to own firearms with or without gun laws, the only question is whether or not law abiding citizens will be able to protect themselves from gun toting criminals.

The Supreme Court has rightly concluded that Americans have a right under the Constitution to do just that.

D.C. Police Setup Military Style Checkpoints To Curb Gun Violence

June 5, 2008 · Filed Under Crime, Gun Control · Comment

The Trinidad area of Washington D.C. is like a war zone. Since April 1, the Trinidad neighborhood has had seven homicides, 16 robberies and 20 assaults. They’ve had 22 homicides total so far this year, which is 1 more than all of last year.

The violence has become so severe that D.C. Police have resorted to setting up military style checkpoints at the entrance to the worst neighborhoods.

The ironic and frankly laughable part of all this is that Washington D.C. is the only city in America with a complete handgun ban. Only the Police and other law enforcement agencies are allowed to even possess a handgun.

This is a prime example of why gun control laws are so ridiculous. It’s no accident that the city which keeps law abiding citizens from owning guns is also plagued by the worst gun violence.

To believe that a criminal or gang member is going to stop carrying a gun because it’s illegal to do so is hilarious.

A lot of homicides, robberies, and assaults, could have been avoided if law abiding citizens had been allowed to defend themselves.

The U.S. Supreme Court is in the midst of deciding whether or not D.C.’s gun ban is in fact unconstitutional, which they will almost certainly rule that it is.
