Environmental kook Diane MacEachern has an interesting insane piece up at The Huffington Post. She uses a lot of bland language and non-threatening terms but her message is clear. We must keep our population growth under control through vigorous “family planning” in order to stop “Climate Change.”

Accelerating the development of clean energy is critical, as is maximizing energy efficiency. But neither strategy will be enough if we don’t set our sights on a world where population actually decreases over time.

That may not be as difficult as it seems. Every country that offers easy access to contraceptive and safe abortion services also has a fertility rate of two children per woman or fewer, consistent with a declining population, notes Worldwatch’s Engelman. Further, he says, more than two out of five pregnancies worldwide are unintended, suggesting that a world in which women everywhere were fully in control of their childbearing would soon reverse population growth.

I’m not one of those people who’s against contraception by any means. If a woman wants birth control pills she should have access to them. What I’m against is Communist Chinese style population control to stop something that isn’t real. Global warming is a farce. CO2 emissions are not destroying the earth. Al Gore is a fraud.

The idea that America should fund abortions worldwide in order to combat “Climate Change” is insane.

I don’t even know what to say about this. It’s absolutely amazing. It will render you speechless. Gianna Jessen is an abortion survivor. She was aborted via saline solution which burns a baby alive inside the womb. Then the mother delivers a dead baby and that’s that. But Gianna Jessen wasn’t born dead. She was alive. She has cerebral palsy because of the abortion procedure but she lived.

I’ve always been pro-choice. Not militantly pro-choice, but I’m basically in favor of letting people do what they want. However, listening to Gianna Jessen is only the latest in a series of things that is causing me to reconsider. I’ve begun to re-examine what is so cavalierly referred to as “women’s reproductive rights.” The seriousness of this issue only begun to dawn on me about two years ago. We really are talking about the life and death of a child. I firmly believe that late-term abortions (that President Bush outlawed) are in fact cold-blooded murder. If you’re killing a baby that could live outside the womb that’s murder. I’m not so sure having an abortion at the earliest possible time before there’s much of anything even there is really murder. I’m not ready to go that far.

When Gianna speaks about aborting children with handicaps and birth defects I’m also torn. There is no doubt that a person born with cerebral palsy who can still function would want to live. She has the ability to live a full life. But where I have trouble is when the handicap is more serious. What if a child has such mental retardation that they cannot walk, bath, clothe themselves, feed themselves, or go to the bathroom. All they do is sit in a wheelchair and make noise. Are you really doing that child a favor by bringing them into this world? A world they will never know or get to experience? A world they simply do not have the mental or physical capacity to understand? I certainly would not want to live in that nightmare. That said, what gives me the right to make that choice for someone else? Isn’t that like playing God?

It’s such a complicated issue. There are so many ethical and moral dilemmas at play.

So-called comedian Kathy Griffin launched into an ugly, hateful tirade against former President George W. Bush. She rabidly attacks the story Bush told about his mother showing him her miscarried fetus in a jar when he was a kid.

For the record, I’m not some tool who can’t take a joke. I enjoy a good profanity laced comedic riff as much as anyone, but this bitch ain’t that funny. It’s not just that she’s a liberal, most comedians are liberal. I think Chris Rock is one of the funniest people alive and he’s a liberal.

The problem with Kathy Griffin is that she’s just a mean bitch. Her so-called jokes are just vicious personal attacks dressed up as comedy. She’s a rabidly partisan left-winger with a real and palpable hatred of conservatives and Republicans.

CNN and NBC have done the predictable thing and refused to air a pro-life ad from CatholicVote.com during Obama’s speech tonight. I happen to be pro-choice myself, but was blown away by this ad. It’s one of the most effective ads I’ve ever seen (which is why the liberal networks won’t run it). The beauty of this ad is that no matter how you feel about abortion, you simply cannot disagree with it. It’s absolutely 100% accurate in every way.

Art major Aliza Shvarts ’08 wants to make a statement.

Beginning next Tuesday, Shvarts will be displaying her senior art project, a documentation of a nine-month process during which she artificially inseminated herself “as often as possible” while periodically taking abortifacient drugs to induce miscarriages. Her exhibition will feature video recordings of these forced miscarriages as well as preserved collections of the blood from the process.

As a pro-choice advocate I find this to be absolutely appalling. I hope to god this turns out to be hoax, because if true this young woman is an absolutely despicable human being who should be shunned by any decent person on this planet.

The fact anyone could treat pregnancy and termination of a pregnancy in such a loathsome and trivial fashion is not fit to be a part of the civilized world.

The goal in creating the art exhibition, Shvarts said, was to spark conversation and debate on the relationship between art and the human body. But her project has already provoked more than just debate, inciting, for instance, outcry at a forum for fellow senior art majors held last week. And when told about Shvarts’ project, students on both ends of the abortion debate have expressed shock . saying the project does everything from violate moral code to trivialize abortion.

But Shvarts insists her concept was not designed for “shock value.”

“I hope it inspires some sort of discourse,” Shvarts said. “Sure, some people will be upset with the message and will not agree with it, but it’s not the intention of the piece to scandalize anyone.”

The “fabricators,” or donors, of the sperm were not paid for their services, but Shvarts required them to periodically take tests for sexually transmitted diseases. She said she was not concerned about any medical effects the forced miscarriages may have had on her body. The abortifacient drugs she took were legal and herbal, she said, and she did not feel the need to consult a doctor about her repeated miscarriages.

Shvarts declined to specify the number of sperm donors she used, as well as the number of times she inseminated herself.

The only debate this “art” project is going to spark is one which examines how our society has sunk so low that it produced a sick a bitch like this.

Not only should her project be disqualified, but Yale should expel her from the school. People have to at some point put politics aside and draw a line in the sand.

No civilized society can function without some type of constraints on behavior. If this is something we are willing to accept then what next? I hate to even ask that question, because who could have possibly imagined someone committing such a barbaric act?

If we cannot agree as a society that this is just unacceptable, then I don’t really know what future we have.
