O’Reilly: What Obama Can Teach America’s Kids

August 7, 2009 · Filed Under Media, U.S. News · 1 Comment

Parade-O'Reilly

Steve Krakauer who I slammed earlier this week for a ridiculous piece on Mediaite about Glenn Beck, has an excellent piece up today about Bill O’Reilly.

Krakauer writes about the upcoming column in Parade magazine by O’Reilly entitled, “What President Obama Can Teach America’s Kids.”

Krakauer notes what many O’Reilly critics refuse to admit, that even though he’s a conservative he’s not a republican party shill.

For those who are absolutely floored, you probably don’t watch enough of The O’Reilly Factor. The top-rated cable news host undeniably leans right, but by no means can be grouped with conservative Sean Hannity or pseudo-conservative Glenn Beck.

O’Reilly’s upcoming piece is about president Obama’s background and what that should mean to America’s kids:

What he has achieved in his 48 years is simply astounding. Consider the odds. The United States is a nation of more than 300 million citizens. Only one person is currently the Commander in Chief. That man had no fatherly guidance, is of mixed race, and had no family connections to guide him into the world of national politics. That adds up to one simple truth that every American child should be told: “If Barack Obama can become the President of the United States, then whatever dream you may have can happen in your life.”

The O’Reilly piece has many on the left stunned. Their knee-jerk response is to attribute cynical motivations on O’Reilly’s part for writing it. However, the stunned reaction by many on the left only proves what most of us have always known — many critics have never even watched his show.

The only exposure many lefty critics have to O’Reilly is from 2-minute clips taken out of context from repugnant hate sites like Media Matters or Daily Kos.

Anyone who actually watches O’Reilly night after night knows that he takes heat from both sides and often takes positions at odds with the right.

His program is not and has never been about ideology, but simply about cutting through the bull and getting down to the facts.

As for the O’Reilly article itself, I can’t imagine anyone on the left or the right disagreeing with it.

No honest person can say he or she is not inspired by the rise of Barack Obama. He had every disadvantage a person can have as a child including being of mixed race, but overcame all of it to become our nation’s 44th President. How can you not admire that?

Having said all that, his policies are still a disaster that will destroy our country and rob us of our liberty — but, more on that later.

Gawker Pretends To Be Relevant By Ambushing O’Reilly’s Ambusher

June 23, 2009 · Filed Under Media · Comment

For the last couple of months Gawker.com has been obsessed with Bill O’Reilly’s ambush interviews.

O’Reilly likes to send one of his producers to confront cowardly public officials and left-wing journalists who refuse to appear on his show when they do outrageous things.

O’Reilly’s chief ambusher is Fox producer Jesse Watters. Watters has confronted all manner of people from judges to bloggers and everyone in between.

The idiots at Gawker decided to strike back at Watters and confront him at his home at 6 a.m. as he was leaving with his wife.

Watters simply smiled and got into his car and drove away. I’m guessing the douchebags at Gawker expected to feel some kind of sweet vindication by ambushing Watters, but the whole thing turned out pretty lame.

Gawker claims to have spent two months trying to ambush Watters, and this pathetic display is all they got out of it.

Next time you read about Gawker laying off some bloggers, it’ll be because they pissed away so much money on stunts like this.

Gawker’s hatred of Fox News and absolute devotion to Barack Obama has led the once semi-entertaining blog to become a gruesome left-wing tabloid.

Whiny NARAL Mouthpiece Blames O’Reilly For Tiller Murder

June 4, 2009 · Filed Under Liberals, Media · Comment

 mary-alice-carr

Today’s Washington Post has a ridiculous hit piece in it from NARAL vice president of communications Mary Alice Carr. She apparently took the brave stance of refusing to appear on “The O’Reilly Factor” to discuss the murder of abortion doctor George Tiller.

Carr shamelessly exploits the tragic death of Dr. Tiller by laying the responsibility for it at O’Reilly’s feet.

O’Reilly is being incredibly disingenuous when he claims that he bears no responsibility for others’ actions in the killing of Dr. George Tiller on Sunday. When you tell an audience of millions over and over again that someone is an executioner, you cannot feign surprise when someone executes that person.

So by this logic if president Bush had been assassinated it would have been Keith Olbermann’s fault. After all, you can’t come on television every night and tell Americans their president is a fascist war criminal who’s spying on them and not expect someone to try and stop him.

Obviously, this is ridiculous logic. To follow this logic would mean commentators couldn’t really talk about anything. Who’s to say what topic might set some nut off? Anything could prompt anyone to violence at anytime.

Carr also makes the false charge that O’Reilly never expressed sympathy or remorse for Tiller’s death. It’s true that O’Reilly never apologized for anything he said (nor should he), but he said on two different nights that the murder of Dr. Tiller was wrong.

He said we are a nation of laws and that kind of vigilante justice is unacceptable — and he’s right.

What Mary Alice Carr is trying to do on behalf of her radical abortion-on-demand cause is intimidate people from being publicly critical of abortion.

Sane Americans of every political stripe know what happened to Dr. Tiller was wrong. It was a case of domestic terrorism pure and simple.

However, most Americans also believe that partial birth abortion is wrong and morally repugnant. Clear thinking Americans on all sides also agree that Tiller was a butcher. He made millions over the course of his career and murdered more than 60,000 babies.

For $5,000 Tiller would perform an abortion for any woman at any point in her pregnancy for any reason.

It was only because of a sympathetic governor and Attorney General in Kansas that Tiller wasn’t sent to prison for performing illegal late-term abortions.

I myself am pro-choice, but what Tiller did was wrong on every level. If it were no big deal then Tiller wouldn’t have been one of only three doctors in the United States willing to do what he did.

Bill O’Reilly had every right to comment on Tiller and let Americans know what the hell was going on in Kansas.

The real outrage is that O’Reilly was the only one in the media with enough guts to talk about it.

I don’t the patience for it, but Tim Graham over at NewsBusters breaks down each lie and mischaracterization in Carr’s column and sets the record straight.

Video: Bill O’Reilly Interviews Dutch MP Geert Wilders

February 24, 2009 · Filed Under Video, War on Terror · 6 Comments

Geert Wilders is a hero. He puts his life on the line every single day in his home country of Holland. Cowardly Europeans have given in and given up trying to resist the spread of Islam. Speaking out against Islam is considered hate speech in the courts and Wilders was even denied entry into Great Britain after a Muslim member of parliament threatened to unleash 10,000 Muslims onto the streets of London if he were allowed in. The hatred of Wilders stems from a short film he made which tells the truth about Islam. He shows Islam to be a totalitarian ideology much like communism or fascism. It’s a religion about total control and domination. Europe has allowed unchecked Muslim immigration for years which has created a powder keg in many countries that could ignite at any moment.

The cowardly British and French now have so many angry, radical Muslims in their countries that they don’t dare speak up about it. A combination of left-wing political correctness and classic European cowardess in the face of threats has allowed Islam to dictate the rules. Islamic Sharia courts operate in Britain with the blessings of the government. People like Geert Wilders are kept from even entering a supposedly free country like Britain because of threats by a Muslim. Wilders is facing prosecution for hate speech, while Muslims in Britain, Holland, France, and elsewhere are allowed to openly call for the murder of Jews and the destruction of America. Wilders has to live under armed guard because of the thousands of death threats he receives every single day.

Video: O’Reilly And Megyn Kelly Scream At Each Other

December 5, 2008 · Filed Under Video · Comment

I’m a big fan of O’Reilly and always have been. But the one thing that irritates me is when he tells an expert on something that they’re wrong — when he doesn’t no what he’s talking about. Megyn Kelly is an attorney and an excellent one at that. So when Megyn tells O’Reilly what the law is and he says you’re wrong, it makes him look foolish.
