Video: Sarah Palin Arrives At Book Signing In Michigan

Dan Calabrese from The North Star National went to Sarah Palin’s book signing in Grand Rapids, Michigan and took his camera man along. As he was interviewing the gathering crowd, Palin’s massive tour bus came pulling into the parking lot.

About the 5 minute mark it gets interesting. Palin gets off the bus and speaks to the crowd.

The AP reports that Sarah Palin’s memoir will be published on Nov. 17.

The title is “Going Rogue” — an allusion to the in-fighting between Team Sarah and the McCainiancs that broke out in the last weeks of the campaign.

Should be a good read.

Cheney Reveals Frustration With Bush In Upcoming Book

Former Vice-President Dick Cheney is notoriously tight-lipped. We know from years of reporting that he often prefers to listen rather than speak. As a result, when he does speak people tend to listen.

According to The Washington Post, Cheney will be doing quite a bit of speaking in his upcoming memoirs.

In his first few months after leaving office, former vice president Richard B. Cheney threw himself into public combat against the "far left" agenda of the new commander in chief. More private reflections, as his memoir takes shape in slashing longhand on legal pads, have opened a second front against Cheney’s White House partner of eight years, George W. Bush.

Cheney’s disappointment with the former president surfaced recently in one of the informal conversations he is holding to discuss the book with authors, diplomats, policy experts and past colleagues. By habit, he listens more than he talks, but Cheney broke form when asked about his regrets.

"In the second term, he felt Bush was moving away from him," said a participant in the recent gathering, describing Cheney’s reply. "He said Bush was shackled by the public reaction and the criticism he took. Bush was more malleable to that. The implication was that Bush had gone soft on him, or rather Bush had hardened against Cheney’s advice. He’d showed an independence that Cheney didn’t see coming. It was clear that Cheney’s doctrine was cast-iron strength at all times — never apologize, never explain — and Bush moved toward the conciliatory."

The two men maintain respectful ties, speaking on the telephone now and then, though aides to both said they were never quite friends. But there is a sting in Cheney’s critique, because he views concessions to public sentiment as moral weakness. After years of praising Bush as a man of resolve, Cheney now intimates that the former president turned out to be more like an ordinary politician in the end.

Time Magazine reported last month on Cheney’s anger over President Bush’s refusal to grant Scooter Libby a full pardon. Cheney claims he will detail the heated exchanges he had with Bush on that issue in his book.

If the above quotes are any indication, his book should prove a fascinating read. I always take heat when I say this, but I think Dick Cheney was a great Vice President — maybe one of the greatest.

I do think he bears a significant portion of the blame for Iraq turning into the disaster it did, and the history books will rightly reflect that.

Besides Iraq, I think his steely resolve on national security issues and total disregard for his own popularity were a great asset to the Bush presidency and to our country as a whole.

The media didn’t try to learn a damn thing about Barack Obama when he was running for president. Even now, the media is uninterested in holding his administration accountable for its words, its actions, or its policies.

Malkin does an exceptional job of laying out a roadmap of corruption, cronyism, criminality, and Chicago thug politics that lead straight to the White House.

Michelle Malkin’s long-awaited new book is finally out! It’s called “Culture of Corruption: Obama and His Team Of Tax Cheats, Crooks, And Cronies.”

I just started reading it and will post a full review sometime in the next week.

NY Times Attacks Anti-Obama Book

It wasn’t a matter of “if”, but “when” The NY Times would attack the anti-Obama book that currently sits atop their bestseller list. Jerome Corsi’s book, The Obama Nation is selling like mad and its driving the left-wingers crazy. Clay Waters over at NewsBusters has some excellent analysis of the article and the book.

Fear Of Muslim Backlash Leads Publisher To Cancel Book

Book publisher Random House decided not to publish a novel about the prophet Muhammad’s wife. The book titled The Jewel Of Medina gives a fictional account of the prophet Mohammad’s wife Aiesha.

After public condemnation by UT professor Denise Spellberg and some Islamic scholars, Random House decided not to publish the book. Spellberg called the book a “very ugly, very stupid piece of work” and warned that Muslims will likely find the book offensive.

It is beyond outrageous that even in the U.S. we have to walk on egg shells when it comes to Islam. I find it incredibly offensive that we have to be censored out of fear of violent Muslim backlash. If Christians reacted violently every time someone insulted Jesus, America would be a war torn wasteland.

Radical Muslims desperately want to gain a foothold in America the way they have in Europe. Even more frightening is what has become of our neighbor to the north. Take a look at Canada if you want to see where all this nonsense leads. You can and will be charged with a crime in Canada for writing books or articles that offend Muslims. Read what happened to Mark Steyn if you think I’m exaggerating.

This is not the Middle East, this is America and I will never censor what I write out of fear of Muslims. Unlike in Britain where people live in fear of the Muslim masses, Americans have the advantage of being armed.

If Muslims can’t assimilate and quit being so touchy about their radical religion then they should go back to whatever third world hell hole they came from.

Rather than not publish books about Islam, we should be publishing more books about Islam, preferably ones that offend the delicate sensibilities of Muslims.

Any Muslim that would like to issue a fatwa calling for my death, I welcome it. To borrow a line from President Bush, “bring it on.”

Scott McClellan Continues Book Tour–Now On Capital Hill!

Disgruntled former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan is continuing his dubious book tour today, this time on Capital Hill. McClellan is appearing today before the House Judiciary Committee to testify about claims made in his book, “What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception.”

McClellan claims in his book that the Bush Administration used “propaganda” to sell the war to the American people. He also alleges that there was a cover-up of the Plame leak investigation that he only fully became aware of after leaving the administration.
