A Coup In Canada?

December 4, 2008 · Filed Under Politics · 2 Comments

stephenharper 300x174 A Coup In Canada?

With most people’s attention focused on the struggling economy and the terror attacks in Mumbai, it’s no wonder no one is talking about the political crisis in Canada. Our neighbors to the north are facing an actual coup attempt by the liberals and socialists. I don’t mean that metaphorically either. The current conservative government of Stephen Harper who recently won re-election may be toppled on Dec. 8th.

Harper won re-election by sticking to a conservative platform and refusing to sign a $30 billion dollar bailout package left-wingers have been pushing for.

Even though the liberals/socialists were soundly defeated in the election, on Dec. 8th they’re hoping to remove Stephen Harper’s administration from power.

Harper’s electoral message was clear:  Proven leadership for troubled economic times.  The Liberals offered up a candidate who primarily pandered to the all-important Canadian constituencies of polar bears and artists.  He was so lame that even the media couldn’t bring itself to endorse him, which is the canary in the coal mine for a Liberal.

In the last week of the campaign, when parties are typically expected to max out the charge card on handouts to bribe voters with their own money, Harper said that little would be forthcoming.  He still won.

But why would liberals let a little thing like an electoral rout get in the way of victory?  A month after the election, the Liberals and NDP socialists have decided that it’s time to shove the designated driver out the door and take the wheel.

What set these sensitive souls off this time?  Well, Harper said last week that there will be no outright bailout beyond his ongoing tax cutting efforts, and he decided that political parties should forego the funding they’re getting from taxpayers until such time as the economy improves.

Liberals called this latter move “mean spirited”.  The audacity of denying Liberal hands the comforting, familiar warmth and shelter of the cash register drawer during the dead of winter!

The Liberals had a crackerjack fundraising scheme for several years, until it was revealed that they were laundering taxpayer funds into the pockets of their party-friendly donors and pals.  Now, like a juice-monkey cut off from his steroid supply, they have no game.

Liberals are hoping that a parliamentary vote on December 8th will install them in power, propped up by the socialists and Quebec separatists.  And power is the only thing all these factions have in common – besides a pathological addiction to other people’s money.

Even though Harper won the election fair and square, the liberals believe they can muster enough votes to remove him from office. Imagine that? The party that loses just takes power by force anyway — sounds more like Venezuela than Canada. Harper also promised during his campaign to keep Canadian troops in Afghanistan which technically Canada is obligated to do as a member of NATO. The liberals clearly don’t care too much for rules however, so you can probably throw NATO commitments out with the democratic election.

The conservative administration of Stephen Harper has been good for Canada and good for the U.S. It will be a shock if this coup really happens. A liberal takeover will be a disaster for Canada both from an economic standpoint and in terms of national security.

Canada is an important ally in the war on terror. The last thing either country needs are a bunch of weak-kneed left wingers running the place.

Canada Deports First Military Deserter Back To The U.S.

July 16, 2008 · Filed Under Uncategorized · Comment

Canada has deported the first of an estimated 200 U.S. military deserters back to America. 25-year old Robin Long exausted his last remaining appeal this week for refugee status in Canada, and was promptly shipped back to the U.S.

Robin Long, 25, was removed a day after a Federal Court judge in Vancouver rejected his claim that he would suffer irreparable harm if returned to the United States. He fled across the border in 2005 as his army tank unit was preparing to deploy to Iraq.

Canada is right to send deserters back. Cowards like Long are a disgrace to this nation and deserve to face justice. Over 1 million men and women have served their country honorably in Iraq, but Long was too much of a coward to do his part. People like him don’t deserve to live under the freedom they were so fortunate to be born under.

U.S. military law states that desertion during a time of war is punishable by death. Unfortunately, Long is unlikely to get the death penalty but will probably serve time in a federal prison.

After he finishes his prison sentence he should be stripped of his U.S. citizenship and deported from the United States forever.

Canadian Law: Telling The Truth About Muslims is Hate Speech

steyn01 Canadian Law: Telling The Truth About Muslims is Hate Speech

Take a look at this excellent column by Kathy Shaidle over at Pajamas Media. She offers some excellent analysis of the outrageous prosecution of Mark Steyn for “hate speech” in Canada.

Columnist and author Mark Steyn was charged with “hate speech” by the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal for what it called “flagrant Islamaphobia” after excerpts of his best selling book on radical Islam were featured in a popular Canadian news magazine.

The Canadian government can stop anyone from publishing something it deems “likely” to expose Muslims to “hatred” or “contempt.” Which means that being critical of Muslims in Canada is against the law. Steyn doesn’t face jail time for his “hate crime” but if found guilty he’ll face hefty fines and likely be banned from publishing in Canada ever again.

This so-called “Muslim Human Rights Tribunal” has a 100% conviction rate, so it’s highly unlikely that Steyn will be found innocent. Oddly enough, the far-left here in America has been silent about this Stalinist assault on free speech in Canada, but I guess that’s because they too are terrorist sympathizers just like the Canadian government.

I’m willing to bet if Mark Steyn had written a book that said Jesus was an as*shole, and Christians are dangerous, there would be no trial.

Memo Reveals Obama Campaign Did Give Canada Assurances On NAFTA

March 3, 2008 · Filed Under Barack Obama, Politics · 4 Comments

In what could be the first chink in the otherwise impenetrable armor of Barack Obama, a memo obtained by the Clinton campaign proves that Obama’s senior economic adviser did tell Canada that Obama’s rhetoric on NAFTA was only “political positioning” and shouldn’t be taken seriously.

The memo is the first documentation to emerge publicly out of the meeting between the adviser, Austan Goolsbee, and officials with the Canadian consulate in Chicago, but Goolsbee said it misinterprets what he told them. The memo was written by Joseph DeMora, who works for the consulate and attended the meeting.

“Noting anxiety among many U.S. domestic audiences about the U.S. economic outlook, Goolsbee candidly acknowledged the protectionist sentiment that has emerged, particularly in the Midwest, during the primary campaign,” the memo said. “He cautioned that this messaging should not be taken out of context and should be viewed as more about political positioning than a clear articulation of policy plans.”

Goolsbee disputed the characterization from the conservative government official.

“This thing about ‘it’s more about political positioning than a clear articulation of policy plans,’ that’s this guy’s language,” Goolsbee said of DeMora. “He’s not quoting me.

If used properly this could be a very powerful instrument for the Clinton campaign to bludgeon Obama with. This is the first concrete evidence she can use to show voters that Obama’s rhetoric is simply that, rhetoric.

This revelation will not come as a shock to anyone except the hopelessly naive, which unfortunately this election season has produced quite a few of.

The fact remains that if Obama were really being truthful with voters in Ohio he would explain to them that NAFTA is not to blame for their lot in life. Manufacturing jobs were declining their long before NAFTA was ever signed, because of Ohio’s increasing hostility towards business.

Egregiously high taxes and out-of-control unions have succeeded in chasing away all the good jobs, not NAFTA.

It’s a simple formula: HIGH TAXES + STRONG UNIONS = NO JOBS

The solution is also a simple formula:

LOW TAXES + WEAK UNIONS = VIBRANT ECONOMY

Canada: Muslim Father killed daughter for not wearing hijab

December 11, 2007 · Filed Under Crime, Islam, World News · 5 Comments

A suburb in Toronto, Canada was hit with tragedy Tuesday after it was discovered that 16-year old Aqsa Parvez had been murdered.

What makes the situation worse is that the girl’s father has been arrested and charged with her murder. It turns out that the Parvez family are devout Muslims, and when their daughter refused to wear her hijab (Islamic head scarf) her father decided to kill her.

Muhammad Parvez, 57, was arrested at the scene and will be formally charged with murder when he appears in court Wednesday.

Police said in a statement they received an emergency call at 7:55 am local time Monday from “a man who indicated that he had just killed his daughter.”

According to her friends, Aqsa had worn the hijab at school last year, but rebelled in recent months.

They said she would leave home wearing a hijab and loose-fitting clothes, but would take off her head scarf and change into tighter garments at school, then change back before going home at the end of the day.

The victim’s 26 year-old brother was also charged with obstructing police in the investigation.

Her family didn’t think she was quite Muslim enough for them, so of course they killed her.

Mexamericanada

October 17, 2007 · Filed Under Immigration, Opinion · 1 Comment

The North American continent is one large piece of land. The people who live on the land are as varied as the landscape. And as in the old world, from which many have come originally, the people speak English, French, and Spanish. That is not to say other languages are not spoken in Mexamericanada, because they are, plenty of them. The number of dialects spoken on the continent, reflect the number spoken throughout the world.

The question is what language should be the “official language?” Since picking English would be unfair to Mexico with its dominant Spanish speaking population, maybe we should pick one that would force everyone to learn a new language. By changing all the road signs, books, voice mail answering machines, manuals, assembly instructions, labels, and brail documents we could generate trillions in new revenue with the change over. There would be an explosion in demand for certain professions. Teachers, interpreters, linguists, even therapists to help people deal with their sense of inadequacy in learning the new universal language.

I’ve taken the time to look up languages spoken by more than 10,000,000 people on the earth, and have taken the liberty to list some of them to chose from. Some of the more interesting ones are: Gujarati, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Panjabi, Javanese, and Bengali. If we picked one of these, no one would have an edge over the other in the scramble to learn and be proficient in speaking the new standard of Mexamericanada.

Maybe we should settle for a form of the Akkadian language used in ancient Babylonia, where the people were devoted to materialism and the pursuit of sensual pleasure just like us, here in Mexamericanada.
