I think Allahpundit had it right when he compared this video to images he’d seen of present day Chernobyl. Anyone who’s never been to Detroit cannot possibly grasp the level of devastation. Detroit is like New Orleans right after Katrina — all the time.

The city could probably bring in tourist dollars by offering poverty bus tours. It’s the closest you can get seeing a war zone without leaving America.

Detroit in 2009 is the end result of 30 years of leftist policies and leftist governance. It’s a city that can’t possibly get any worse, there is simply nothing left to destroy.

Is it a coincidence that every single ghetto and slum in America is run exclusively by liberal democrats? I wonder why the poor tend to stay poor or get poorer under the party that champions the poor?

This is a good one. Two Muslim women at an Obama rally in Detroit were told they could not sit behind the podium. The Obama campaign volunteers were seeking to prevent the women who were wearing Muslim head scarves from appearing in the camera frame.

The campaign has since apologized to the women who say they feel “discriminated against.”

“I was coming to support him, and I felt like I was discriminated against by the very person who was supposed to be bringing this change, who I could really relate to,” said Hebba Aref, a 25-year-old lawyer who lives in the Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Hills. “The message that I thought was delivered to us was that they do not want him associated with Muslims or Muslim supporters.”

Here’s what one of the women were told:

That incident began when the volunteer asked Aref’s friend Ali Koussan and two other friends, Aref’s brother Sharif and another young lawyer, Brandon Edward Miller, whether they would like to sit behind the stage. The three young men said they would, but mentioned they were with friends.

The men said the volunteer, a twenty-something African-American woman in a green shirt, asked if their friends looked and were dressed like the young men, who were all light-skinned and wearing suits. Miller said yes, but mentioned that one of their friends was wearing a headscarf with her suit.

The volunteer “explained to me that because of the political climate and what’s going on in the world and what’s going on with Muslim Americans, it’s not good for [Aref] to be seen on TV or associated with Obama,” said Koussan, who is a law student at Wayne State University.

I find this funny because of all the rhetoric from Obama about “bringing people together.” Having said that, I think the volunteers did the right thing. Like it or not Muslims are radioactive in this country and for good reason. The majority of Americans distrust Muslims and have good reason to. Anyone who thinks politicians are gonna start courting the Muslim vote are living in a fantasy world.

Until American Muslims begin speaking out against the the thugs and killers who’ve hijacked their religion, the rest of America will remain skeptical about where their true allegiances lie.
