Manuel Guerra — A 27-year old illegal alien student from Mexico.He’s also a leading activist for the failed amnesty program known as the DREAM Act. It looks like Manuel got his amnesty anyway.

Sujey Pando — A lesbian illegal alien from Mexico (amnesty + diversity = utopia) who is married to an American woman. The federal government doesn’t recognize same sex marriages, but will consider Pando “family” and and therefore grant her amnesty.

The NY Slimes Times has a front page story heralding Obama’s decision to grant up to 2.4 million illegal aliens amnesty by decree. Michelle Malkin has a few things to say about it as well.

Michelle Malkin posted this disturbing clip today. A UCLA professor speaking at a DREAM Act rally offers an ominous note of encouragement. He says once illegals win passage of the DREAM Act it will allow them to become educated and eventually replace the “old white guys” in Congress.

This is the kind of rhetoric that makes the immigration issue so contentious. The hard left has hijacked the issue to use for nefarious purposes. The left doesn’t care about giving opportunity to immigrants. They’re using immigrants as pawns in their quest to permanently change the electorate in their favor.

Glenn just can’t take any more phony rhetoric about Jesus from Nancy “Stretch” Pelosi.

This is why I love Michelle Malkin. There’s nobody who can write a pithier or more biting blog post than Michelle. Here’s her update on the status of the DREAM Act.

The Senate just voted 59-40 to table the DREAM Act illegal alien bailout cloture vote. It’s been “vitiated,” to use Senate parlance. They’ll take up the House-passed version next week.

Which means another week of open-borders agitation, radical ethnic tribalism, and new Democrat euphemisms for illegal aliens.

It’s also another week for you to re-double phone calls, faxes and e-mails to Washington and demand that they put law-abiding American workers and students — and law-abiding immigrants and visa applicants — first.

The part in bold is my favorite. It’s so true. Well played, Michelle.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Tuesday he will add the DREAM Act, a controversial immigration measure, to a defense policy bill the Senate will take up next week.

The decision means the defense bill, which often passes with bipartisan support, will be home to two major, thorny political issues – the other being the repeal of the military’s "don’t ask, don’t tell" policy.

Harry is trying to fulfill the last remaining fantasies of the radical left before the people of Nevada throw his ass out of office. Harry had a very different view of illegal immigration back in 1993.

A group of admitted illegal aliens headed up by thief and activist Antonia Rivera came to the Capital to demand passage of the DREAM Act.

The group calling themselves the “Orange Country Dream Team” brag on Facebook and to anyone who will listen that they’re illegal aliens.

Anyway, the DC police arrested the group for trespassing and later released them without charge. ICE says they’re not interested in the “Dream Team” — they only arrest criminal illegal aliens.

So there you have it. The problem with our so-called “broken immigration system” is really not the system itself but the refusal to enforce it.

How can a woman like Rivera live here illegally, get a college education here illegally, brag about being here illegally, and then protest at the Capital on behalf of others here illegally — and not be deported?

Rivera and everyone she was with should have been arrested and thrown in jail until they could be deported. Should they return illegally a second time they should get 10 years in prison, deportation, and be banned from the US for life.

I also agree with Digger that the ICE agents who refused to detain and deport the group should be brought up on charges themselves — and fired.

I really hope this Marxist broad takes her little act to Maricopa County, Arizona. I’m willing to bet Sheriff Joe Arpaio would have no problem throwing her ass in jail and shipping her back to Mexico.

The DREAM Act was designed to reward students who have been in the United States for years, have graduated from high school and plan to go to college or join the military. The idea was that kids whose parents are illegal aliens should not be punished with deportation, because they had no choice in coming to the country at a young age. The eligible students would have received no federal funding or benefits but simply granted permanent resident status.

The DREAM Act was narrowly targeted and would benefit only high school graduates whose parents brought them to the country illegally years ago, but even this scaled-down legislation was derided as “amnesty” by opponents.

Somehow the Republican party has allowed the far-right to hijack the immigration issue and it’s tearing the party apart. President Bush received the largest number of Latino votes of any Republican President in 2004, but thanks to the hard line stance on immigration those voters have gone back to the Democrats.

There is no question that we must secure our borders and stop the flow of illegal aliens. However, the way the Republicans have handled the issue from a PR perspective is just horrible. Anything short of sending every last illegal alien back to Mexico is labeled as “amnesty” by the far right.

I believe the so called “amnesty bill” that was defeated a few months ago that gave illegals a “path to citizenship” and had the guest worker provision was the right way to go.

It wouldn’t bother me if amnesty was granted, I think it could work this time. When Reagan granted amnesty it was a failure, because he did nothing to secure the border.

If we could lock down the border completely by building a wall and securing it with National Guard, then granting amnesty would be appropriate.

The Republicans have allowed the lunatic fringe to speak for the entire party. The vast majority of Republicans are concerned with illegal immigration because of National Security issues. Unfortunately, their voices are being drowned out by the people who just don’t like Mexicans.
