Sarkozy Says Burqas ‘Not Welcome’ In France
French president Nicolas Sarkozy spoke out today against women wearing the Muslim burqa on the streets of France.
Sarkozy said he finds the small but growing trend of women wearing the full-body garment in France troubling and supports a ban on the practice.
"In our country, we cannot accept that women be prisoners behind a screen, cut off from all social life, deprived of all identity," Sarkozy said to extended applause in a speech at the Chateau of Versailles southwest of Paris.
"The burqa is not a religious sign, it’s a sign of subservience, a sign of debasement—I want to say it solemnly," he said. "It will not be welcome on the territory of the French Republic."
Kudos to Sarkozy for having the guts to stand up on this issue. Like Britain, France is being taken over by Islam.
Europeans are usually either too politically correct or too scared of the Muslim backlash to say so.
There is nothing wrong with immigration per say, but when millions of people pour into a country and refuse to assimilate it’s a problem.
Especially, when many of those people hold radical beliefs that include murdering people with whom they disagree.
Rather than adopt the culture and practices of their new home country, many Muslim immigrants in Europe expect the country to change for them.
I realize the idea of banning burqas is contrary to the idea of religious freedom, but I think Europe is a special case.
Radical Islam is threatening to swallow up western culture and traditions. Burqas are the coverings the Taliban makes women wear.
French Immigration Minister Eric Besson is against banning the burqa for fear of creating “tensions.”
Fear of creating “tensions” (meaning violence and intimidation from Muslims) is what usually stifles criticism of Islam in Europe.
In 2004, France banned women from wearing the Islamic headscarf and other conspicuous religious symbols from public schools.
I think banning the headscarf goes too far. The headscarf is warn by peaceful Muslims and is not associated with extremism like the burqa.
While banning the burqa is a good start, Islamic clothing is not the problem in France. Unchecked Muslim immigration is the problem in France.
France has a Muslim population of more than 5 million — the largest in Western Europe.
Dutch MP Geert Wilders has the right idea for The Netherlands. He’s calling for a freeze on all immigration from Muslim countries and deportation for Muslim immigrants who commit crimes or who refuse to assimilate.
Almost Half Of French Approve Of Kidnapping Bosses To Get More Benefits
This sounds like a joke, but it’s not. A new tactic by unions has emerged in France, Britain, and throughout Europe called “bossnapping.”
Laid off workers literally kidnap their boss and hold him hostage until they get the compensation packages they want.
This is what happens when you build an entitlement society like the one Obama is trying to create right here in America.
Even more troubling about this so-called “bossnapping” is that nearly 50% of the French actually support it.

Obama Sends Letter To Chirac, Angers Sarkozy, Another Ally Bites The Dust
Remember when Obama campaigned around the country on the phony premise that president Bush alienated our allies and wrecked our relationships overseas? Anybody with a brain knows that was total bullshit and a weak liberal talking point, but assuming it was true let’s look at president Barry’s track record so far.
It has been revealed today that president Obama bizarrely sent a letter to former French president Jacques Chirac. You know, the prick who caused us to rename French fries “Freedom” fries. He was our worst ally after 9/11 and went out of his way to stick his finger in America’s eye.
But for some reason Obama sent him a letter saying he looked forward to working with him in the future.
“I am certain that we will be able to work together, in the coming four years, in a spirit of peace and friendship to build a safer world.”
To put it in perspective so that even a liberal can understand it, that would be like a newly elected European president sending a letter to Bush saying he looked forward to working with him in the coming years.
Suffice it to say, French president Nicolas Sarkozy is none to pleased.
Now let’s look back and see what kind of “repairs” Obama has made to Bush’s foreign policy that was allegedly in such tatters.
1. Insulted UK PM Gordon Brown during official White House visit and gave him a DVD box set that doesn’t even play on European dvd players.
2. Hillary Clinton gave Russia a red button with the word “reset” in Russian on it meant to signify a fresh start for relations. Unfortunately, the wrong Russian word was on the button.
3. Banned Mexican trucks from U.S. highways which is a clear violation of NAFTA and has sparked a trade war with Mexico.
4. Publicly waffling on commitment to Poland and other former Soviet Block allies on missile shield.
5. Insulted French president Sarkozy by sending letter to previous president whom he hates and we hate pledging cooperation (on what I don’t know).
This must be that “change we can believe in” I’ve been hearing about for two years.
Sarkozy Says He Won’t Shake Hands With Ahmadinejad, Iran Outraged

Kudos to French president Nicolas Sarkozy for continuing to keep the pressure on Iran. Sarko has really been a great ally on the Iranian issue and never misses an opportunity to blast Ahmadinejad.
Earlier in the week Sarko said this in a speech:
“it is impossible for me to shake hands with someone who dared to say that Israel should be wiped off the map.”
and this:
“We can not solve this crisis without talking to Iranian leaders,” he said, but added: “I know perfectly well that the Iranian president does not represent Iran, much less the Iranian people.”
“The Iranian people are one of the greatest people of the world, one of the oldest civilizations in the world, cultured and open, but they have the misfortune to be represented today by some of their leaders.”
Both statements have allegedly outraged the Iranian government. Iran’s deputy foreign minister summoned his French counterpart to express anger of the comments. He warned that Sarko’s comments could damage the two countries’ bilateral relations.
The French president’s comments while controversial in wimpy Europe were certainly accurate and very well said. The french president along with British PM Brown deserve a lot of credit for not going all wobbly — to borrow a phrase from Lady Thatcher.

President Sarkozy And Supermodel Carla Bruni Marry In “Secret Ceremony”
According to the Daily Mail, French President Nicolas Sarkozy has married his supermodel girlfriend Carla Bruni.
The influential L’Est Républicain newspaper, which has close links with Mr Sarkozy’s former wife Cecilia, said the ceremony took place at the Elysée Palace in Paris last Thursday.
It was a civil ceremony attended by a few friends, according to the paper, which quoted a source whom it said was there.
President Sarkozy met Bruni at a dinner party less than two months ago!
You have to respect the man’s hustle. He’s not about to let that Presidential bed get cold!!

Report: Sarkozy To Marry Model
According to the weekly Le Journal du Dimanche French President Nicolas Sarkozy intends to marry his supermodel girlfriend Carla Bruni on Feb. 8 or 9.
The recently divorced French leader has flaunted their unmarried relationship on recent holidays in Egypt and Jordan, fanning criticism that he is playing too fast and loose with the presidential image.
The newspaper report said that in December, less than a month after Sarkozy met Bruni, he gave her a heart-shaped diamond engagement ring.
Sarkozy and his wife of 11 years, Cecilia, divorced in October. Their marital problems became well known in May 2005 when she appeared in public at the side of event organizer Richard Attias.
A marriage to Bruni, a one-time star of the catwalks who is now a singer, would be Sarkozy’s third: He divorced his first wife, Marie, in the late 80s — after he had met and befriended Cecilia.
Bruni, an Italian-born French citizen, has dated famous men including Mick Jagger and Donald Trump. She has also reportedly been linked to singer Eric Clapton and actor Vincent Perez.
French Scientist Calls Gore A “Crook” And His Followers “Religous Zealots”
The most outspoken global warming skeptic in France is Claude Allegre, a former education minister and a physicist by profession. His new book, “Ma Verite Sur la Planete” (“My Truth About the Planet”), doesn’t hold back.
He calls Gore a “crook” presiding over an eco-business that pumps out cash. As for Gore’s French followers, the author likens them to religious zealots who, far from saving humanity, are endangering it. Driven by a Judeo-Christian guilt complex, he says, French greens paint worst-case scenarios and attribute little-understood cycles to human misbehavior.
Allegre rightly points out that while the icecap of the North Pole is shrinking, the one covering Antarctica — or 92 percent of the Earth’s ice — is not, he says. Nor have Scandinavian glaciers receded, he says. To play down these differences by basing forecasts on a global average makes absolutely no sense.
French Police: “This is a real guerrilla war”
From The International Herald Tribune:
Two years after an orgy of violence in which rioters in more than 300 suburbs and towns torched cars, trashed businesses and ambushed the riot police and firefighters, Villiers-le-Bel and several nearby suburbs of Paris similarly have erupted in violence and destruction.
In one sense, the unrest seems to be more menacing than during the early days of the three weeks of rioting in 2005. Then, the youth seemed disorganized, their destruction largely caused by rock-throwing and arson and aimed at the closest and easiest targets, like cars. This time, hunting shotguns, as well as gasoline bombs and rocks, have been turned on the police.
“From what our colleagues on the scene tell us, this is a situation that is a lot worse than what we saw in 2005,” Patrice Ribeiro, a police officer and senior union official, told RTL radio Tuesday. He added, “A line was crossed last night, that is to say, they used weapons, they used weapons and fired on the police. This is a real guerrilla war.”
Ribeiro warned that the police, who have struggled to avoid excessive force, would not be fired upon indefinitely without responding.
More than 80 police officers already have been wounded the clashes, several of them seriously, Ribeiro said later by telephone. Thirty of them were hit with pellets from shotguns, and one of the wounded was hit with a type of bullet used to kill large game, he added. It is legal to own a shotgun in France – as long as the owner has a license – and police circles were swirling with rumors that the bands of youth were procuring more shotguns.
It is impossible to predict whether the violence will continue and spread to the much larger cluster of Parisian suburbs around the town of Seine-Saint-Denis, the area where violence was concentrated in 2005, or to the rest of the country.
It’s time that the French Police start cracking some skulls. To allow those thugs to riot with impunity just encourages this type of nonsense in the future. Those rioters are just pissed off, because President Sarkozy thinks they should hold down a job like everyone else.
They think they’re entitled to live free and clear off the backs of tax paying French citizens. These are not seniors we’re talking about, but able bodied young people who are just lazy and militant. What is happening in France is a prime example of what socialist policies create in a society.
Anyone who fires a shotgun at Police should be shot on site. It’s unbelievable that the French Police are warning that they won’t continue to be fired at without responding. Policemen have actually been shot, but the Police has yet to shoot back.
That’s one situation you damn sure wouldn’t see in America. If rioters began shooting at the Police, it would trigger a Fallujah style showdown.

French president walks out of TV interview

French President Nicolas Sarkozy walked out of an interview with CBS television news show 60 minutes, according to a clip of the show released Sunday in advance of the interview’s airing.
A clearly disturbed Sarkozy stood up muttering in French about the question, which was not heard, in a short publicity clip put on the Internet ahead of the 60 Minutes broadcast Sunday night.
Before the CBS news show interview in Paris even began, Sarkozy called his press secretary “an imbecile” for arranging the session on a busy day.
In the interview conducted earlier this month and aired Sunday night, he candidly discussed what he likes about the U.S. But he grew frustrated when asked about his wife.
“If I had to say something about Cecilia, I would certainly not do so here,” Sarkozy replied.
He declared the interview over and said: “Bon courage.” Two weeks later, the Sarkozys’ divorce was announced.
