Rick Santorum received loud boos while speaking to an audience in New Hampshire yesterday. Frankly, it is this issue and other social issues that keep me from supporting Santorum. This country is in real economic trouble and this guy is worried about Chuck and Larry getting married. It’s ridiculous. That said, I wish college kids would be less confrontational and combative. They prevent a real discussion because they get riled up and offended when something is said they disagree with.

I’m a pretty right wing guy and a Texan to boot, but this is just dumb. Rick Perry has just signed a pledge promising to put forth a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage if he’s elected president.

The pledge by the National Organization for Marriage states that, if elected, Perry will send a Constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman to the states for ratification, and appoint U.S. Supreme Court and federal judges who will “reject the idea our Founding Fathers inserted a right to gay marriage into our Constitution.”

This is dumb for two reasons. The first reason is that a month ago he said gay marriage should be left up to the states to decide. Now, he’s saying we should change the Constitution to ban gay marriage. The second reason this is dumb is that it’s just a silly issue. Conservatives need to stop getting distracted by petty issues like this. The idea that letting two dudes get married is going to weaken the insitution of marriage is bullsh*t. It’s not going to have any effect on heterosexual marriages. In fact, it’s not going to have an effect on anything or anyone beyond the two people getting married.

Perry had it right the first time. It should be a state issue. The voters of New York voted to legalize gay marriage. That should be respected. The voters of California voted not to legalize gay marriage. That should also be respected. Personally, I don’t really give a damn who marries who. It will have no impact on my life whatsoever.

This country’s economy is in the toilet, we’re up to our eyeballs in debt, and Barack Obama’s agenda is destroying jobs. But even in the face of all that, some on the right are running around trying to make gay marriage illegal. If that’s going to be a centerpiece of the Republican platform in 2012 you can consider Barack Obama already re-elected.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow caught up with Alaska GOP Senate candidate Joe Miller. Maddow quizzed him about social issues while they walked at a brisk pace.

I obviously support Joe Miller, but I disagree with him as I did with Bush on a Constitutional Amendment banning gay marriage. As I’ve said before, I don’t really give a rip one way or another if gays get married. It should be left up to the states to decide based on what voters want. The federal government should stay the hell out of it.

Former Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman has come out as gay. Most Republicans assumed he was gay anyway. Nobody cares.

A federal judge overturned California’s gay-marriage ban Wednesday in a landmark case that could eventually force the U.S. Supreme Court to confront the question of whether same-sex couples have a constitutional right to wed.

I have to admit this issue doesn’t get me as animated as it does other conservatives. Frankly, I don’t really care if gay people get married. It doesn’t have any impact on my life either way.

I just turned 29 and I find that most conservatives of my generation and younger don’t really have a problem with gay marriage. At worst they’re like me and ambivalent about the whole thing.

I do however take issue very much with liberal judges imposing things on the citizenry against their will. I believe states rights should be respected.

The people of California have repeatedly voted on the issue of gay marriage and each time they voted against it. The people of California have said loud and clear that they want marriage to be defined as between a man and woman only.

Gays are allowed to have civil unions in CA which grant them all the rights as a legal marriage — it’s just not called a “marriage.”

I’m not sure why the semantic issue of calling it “marriage” is such a big deal, but it seems to be.

After today’s ruling you can be sure this issue will go all the way to the SCOTUS. How they will rule on it is anybody’s guess. I think it could go either way.

I just think the states that want gay marriage should have it and those that don’t shouldn’t be forced to. That said, I don’t think it would be unreasonable to force all 50 states to allow civil unions. Then gays would be covered in every state, but the semantic issue of calling it “marriage” would be left alone.

What really blows me away is that the school said what this bus driver did was “within the scope of her employment.” Are you kidding me? The only thing that broad is supposed to be doing is driving the damn bus. Since when are bus drivers supposed to “educate” kids on social issues? She should be fired.

The Miss USA contestants from the four states that allow gay marriage say Miss California should have been more politically correct when answering the gay marriage question.

The catty bitches decided to weigh-in on the issue with the usual left-wing drivel.

Miss Massachusetts Alison Cronin told FOXNews.com she was “shocked” when Carrie Prejean, 21, told Miss USA judge and celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton that she believes marriage should be “between a man and a woman.”

“It’s really hard to think that people still think that way,” Cronin said. “But at the same time, there’s a lot of girls in pageants who wear their religion on their sleeve. If that’s what she thinks, I give her credit for expressing that, but that’s not how I feel.”

Do you believe this shit? I have to believe that Miss Massachusetts is just pandering to her state, because otherwise she’s one dumb broad.

If she traveled outside of Massachusetts a little more often she would be even more shocked to discover that her views on gay marriage are in the minority.

Miss California’s view of marriage is shared by the vast majority of Americans and it’s neither shocking nor controversial.

In fact, I bet Miss Massachusetts would really be shocked to learn that President Barack Obama agrees with Miss California’s view on marriage — not Perez Hilton’s.

But like I said, I’ll assume she was pandering and not just completely ignorant and uninformed.

Not to be outdone, Miss Connecticut Mary Pietzrak offered her take:

“In general, when you’re answering a question like that, you have to be politically correct about it,” Pietzrak told FOXNews.com. “I would’ve answered differently to help accommodate all beliefs. It’s a decision between two individuals, and not just a man and a woman.”

Pietzrak said she doesn’t share Prejean’s view that marriage should be limited to opposite-sex couples. “I don’t personally agree with that, but people have a choice to do whatever they want.”

What these bitches don’t understand is that Prejean’s refusal to compromise her beliefs for the sake of political correctness and accommodation is what makes her a person of strong character.

Miss Iowa Chelsea Lynn Gauger offered her opinion as well:

“Being from Iowa, I’m proud to say that our state has interpreted the Constitution to say that gays have the right to marry,” Gauger said. “Whether you agree with [Prejean] or not, to be on national television and say exactly how you feel, it does take strength and faith.”

Unlike her colleagues, I think Miss Iowa has it right.

Prejean knew she was being asked her opinion of gay marriage by one of the most vicious gay rights extremists in America. She knew what he wanted to hear and that the “wrong” answer would likely cost her the crown.

The easiest thing in the world for Carrie Prejean would have been to say she fully supports gay marriage. After working so hard and getting that far in the competition most girls would have given the safe answer so they could win.

Miss California decided at that moment that no title or crown was worth abandoning her principles and beliefs. So to the horror of leftists and gays everywhere, Carrie Prejean said her piece.

That ladies and gentlemen is called courage. You know in moments like that who is of strong moral character and who’s a pandering, left-wing follower willing to say anything and do anything to get ahead.

The world is lousy with yes-men, PC police, and followers. What we need are more people like Carrie Prejean.
