According to a the Los Angeles Times, the CIA is no longer in the detention and interrogation business. An extremely high level terrorist was recently captured in Pakistan, but we’re not going to question him. Thanks to Barack Obama’s new warm and fuzzy version of the War on Terror we don’t do things like that anymore.

He’s considered one of world’s most dangerous terrorism suspects, and the U.S. offered a $1-million reward for his capture in 2005. Intelligence experts say he’s a master bomb maker and extremist leader who possesses a wealth of information about Al Qaeda-linked groups in Southeast Asia.

Yet the U.S. has made no move to interrogate or seek custody of Indonesian militant Umar Patek since he was apprehended this year by officials inPakistan with the help of a CIA tip, U.S. and Pakistani officials say.

The little-known case highlights a sharp difference between President Obama‘s counter-terrorism policy and that of his predecessor,George W. Bush. Under Obama, the CIA has killed more people than it has captured, mainly through drone missile strikes in Pakistan’s tribal areas. At the same time, it has stopped trying to detain or interrogate suspects caught abroad, except those captured in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“The CIA is out of the detention and interrogation business,” said a U.S. official who is familiar with intelligence operations but was not authorized to speak publicly.

The fact Obama has said CIA must stick to the Army Field Manual for interrogations is one reason. The other is that interrogators are still living under the threat of prosecution from Eric Holder and his rogue DOJ. This has created an atmosphere of hesitation and fear in the intelligence community. CIA now prefers to sit back and wait for an interrogation report from a 3rd party that may or may no be accurate.

This is such an outrage. Obama’s ACLU friendly policies are putting this entire country in danger.

Eric Holder was forced to announce that his planned ACLU backed civilian court trial for KSM had to be scrapped. Instead, KSM will be prosecuted by military tribunal at Gitmo. Holder was practically choking back his rage at having to move the trial. If Holder had any balls he would resign, but he’s too chickenshit to do that. He likes the power too much. He likes running a racist, left wing DOJ too much. His little plan to give KSM a public trial in Manhattan was one of the worst ideas in history. Eric Holder is a disgrace. He was a disgrace when he worked for Clinton and he’s an even bigger disgrace now.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama approved Monday the resumption of military trials for detainees at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, ending a two-year ban.

It was the latest acknowledgement that the detention facility Obama had vowed to shut down within a year of taking office will remain open for some time to come.

Thank God (or Allah?), we pinned him in and forced him to make the right decision.

Berkeley Tree Hugger

If you thought the commie pinko cesspool known as Berkeley, California couldn’t possibly get any nuttier you’re in for a real treat. The fact is Berkeley can always get a little nuttier. The city’s latest stunt is to ask the government to let freed Gitmo detainees resettle in Berkeley. The wacko city council plans a vote on the measure Tuesday night. The fact that such a proposal makes 99% of Americans recoil in horror means it will likely pass.

It’s pretty standard practice for aggrieved Muslims, particularly former Gitmo detainees, to claim Jews did something bad to them. But this is a new twist…

“The most common method to wear down the brothers was witchcraft,” Hajj told Al Jazeera. “There were, of course, Jews among the [staff of] the Guantanamo base, and they would set traps for the guys.” Hajj explained, “Witchcraft was used on most of the guys.”

Here’s a partial transcript of his interview on Al-Jazeera:

Interviewer: "How did they do this?"

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "There were, of course, Jews among the [staff of] the Guantanamo base, and they would set traps for the guys."

Interviewer: "Give me an example of witchcraft."

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "Witchcraft was used on most of the guys."

Interviewer: "They would cast a spell on them?"

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "Yes, but by the grace of Allah, through frequent reading of the Koran and invocation of the names of Allah, they managed to withstand this."

Interviewer: "How did you know that somebody was under a spell?"

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "Someone like that would change."

Interviewer: "In what way?"

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "For example, somebody would take his clothes off, all of a sudden, or would sit on his bed for three days straight without sleeping. [...]

"They would use all kinds of witchcraft against the guys."

Interviewer: "Tell me more."

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "I will tell you how the witchcraft affected the guys. A person would suddenly see his brothers and sisters naked before him."

Interviewer: "And they weren’t really there?"

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "Absolutely not. It was as if he was in a different world."

Interviewer: "You mean, his brothers and sisters from back home."

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "That’s right. I remembered an incident with a guy who sat next to me in the morning. When they brought the milk, he began to urinate into the milk."

Interviewer: "In front of you?"

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "Yes. I said to him: ‘Why are you urinating in the milk?’ That’s when we knew that he was under a spell. After he had recovered a little, after we read Koranic verses to him, he said to me: ‘The birds on the barbed wire would talk to me, and tell me to urinate in the milk. When the guards pass by my cell, the sound made by their pants talks to me.’"

Interviewer: "They tell him to urinate in the milk?"

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "Yes." [...]

Interviewer: "Did they ever use witchcraft on you?"

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "There was one attempt."

Interviewer: "How did they do it?"

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "Once, when I was sleeping – on the floor, not on a bed – I suddenly felt that a cat was trying to penetrate me. It tried to penetrate me again and again. I recited the kursi verse again and again until the cat left."

Interviewer: "But there wasn’t really any cat there?"

Walid Muhammad Hajj: "Absolutely not." [...]

Wow. Those interrogators are bad ass. Urinating in milk? Penetrating cats? Jewish witchcraft? You can’t make this stuff up.

The CIA has tapes of 9/11 plotter Ramzi Binalshibh being interrogated in a secret overseas prison. Discovered under a desk, the recordings could provide an unparalleled look at how foreign governments aided the U.S. in holding and questioning suspected terrorists.

The two videotapes and one audiotape are believed to be the only remaining recordings made within the clandestine prison system.

The tapes depict Binalshibh’s interrogation sessions at a Moroccan-run facility the CIA used near Rabat in 2002, several current and former U.S. officials told The Associated Press. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because the recordings remain a closely guarded secret.

Some guy at CIA found the tapes in a box stuck under a desk and forgotten about. This is not good. Not good at all. Ramzi Binalshibh wasn’t held in a Moroccan dungeon for his interrogation for nothing. Ugly things no doubt happened to him. I could care less about that, but if these tapes go public it could be extremely damaging to our war effort. The hard left will push to get these tapes released and knowing what an incompetent asshole our Attorney General is he’ll probably release them.

This is the kind of crap the left f*cking lives for. It servers to confirm their view that America is a horrible place that committed war crimes against innocent Muslims.

It’s really sick that this guy would go on the leftist BBC and make his country look bad. We did what we had to do after 9/11 to protect the American people from further attacks. Did we lock up a few innocent people? I’m sure we did, but mistakes are made in war.

I’m glad to see someone finally make the point in a major newspaper that I’ve been making on this blog for a long time. That we could eliminate the issues surrounding Gitmo if the terrorists were just executed on the battlefield after their interrogations.

Col. Ralph Peters writes in the NY Post today:

WE made one great mistake regarding Guantanamo: No terrorist should have made it that far. All but a handful of those grotesquely romanticized prisoners should have been killed on the battlefield.

The few kept alive for their intelligence value should have been interrogated secretly, then executed.

Terrorists don’t have legal rights or human rights. By committing or abetting acts of terror against the innocent, they place themselves outside of humanity’s borders. They must be hunted as man-killing animals.

Everyone should read the column in its entirety — it’s the best one of 2009.

Contrary to the ACLU narrative about America, we’re actually too nice and too humane when it comes to waging war.

I believe we should do everything in our power to avoid killing civilians, but when it comes to terrorists I believe we should have little mercy.

The CIA was on the right track with the secret black sites for interrogation in addition to Gitmo.

Unfortunately, it’s impossible for anyone to keep their damn mouths shut about any secret program. You simply cannot have a secret that won’t eventually end up on the front page of the NY Slimes Times.

For this reason, the strategy should be to imbed interrogators with special forces units.

When a high value terrorist is captured, he should be made to talk on the spot by any means necessary. After every last tidbit of information has been extracted he should be executed on the spot.

Then we have the information we need and without liberals howling about so-called “rights” for terrorists.
