On March 30, the 30th anniversary of the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan, Jim Brady, who sustained a debilitating head wound in the attack, and his wife, Sarah, came to Capitol Hill to push for a ban on the controversial “large magazines.” Brady, for whom the law requiring background checks on handgun purchasers is named, then met with White House press secretary Jay Carney. During the meeting, President Obama dropped in and, according to Sarah Brady, brought up the issue of gun control, “to fill us in that it was very much on his agenda,” she said.

“I just want you to know that we are working on it,” Brady recalled the president telling them. “We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”

These people never give up. I’ve said from the beginning that this administration needs to be watched like a hawk when it comes to guns. Between Obama’s anti-gun history and Attorney General Eric Holder’s lifelong crusade against guns, the 2nd Amendment is in real danger.

Secondly, this large magazine capacity issue is totally phony. Outlawing certain magazines will have zero effect on gun violence. It’s silly. We cannot give an inch when it comes to our guns. You give them hi-cap magazines and it will be something else next year.

Joe Scarborough’s transition to left wing pundit is pretty much complete. This morning he and his “Morning Joe” cronies were advocating for stricter gun control laws. Joe makes the absurd claim that 90% of the American people “want this stopped.” He sites Dick Cheney and Pat Buchanan as examples of conservatives who allegedly want stricter gun control laws.

I have no doubt 90% of the people in Manhattan where Joe lives do indeed want stricter gun control. But here in Texas, I don’t know anyone who wants that. I literally don’t know anyone who wants stricter gun control. In fact, quite a few people I’ve spoken with recently admire Arizona’s gun laws and would like to see them adopted here. The main differences between Arizona and Texas is that in Arizona you don’t need a license to carry a concealed weapon or openly carry one.

Politicians never let a tragedy go by without attempting to piggy back some new gun legislation on it. The tragedy in Arizona could not have been prevented with stricter gun laws. Jared Loughner legally purchased his handgun and passed a federal background check. That’s as good as it gets.

I do favor adding mental health records to a federal background check. If you’ve spent time in the nut house you don’t need a gun. We can agree on that one. But when it comes to limiting magazine size or banning so-called “assault weapons” I’m vehemently opposed.

In the words of the late Charlton Heston, “from my cold, dead hands.”

MSLSD’s “Socialist” Larry O’Donnell screamed at Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) for not agreeing with him on gun control. I’m guessing this is that new tone of civility MSLSD hacks have been braying about for the last week.

A single paragraph in an op-ed in the British paper The Guardian perfectly demonstrates why our political system is the greatest in the world. The article, written by Alexander Chancellor, blames our “uniquely lax gun laws” for the Arizona massacre. He calls it “insane” that Americans respond to mass killings by rushing out to buy even more guns. Chancellor laments the seeming lack of courage by any politician left or right to challenge our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms.

But the following paragraph is the most telling. It’s what separates the US from the rest of the world. It’s the reason America’s founders were such visionaries. It’s also what Obama and his leftist cronies are trying like hell to destroy.

As Arizona has shown, the usual response to a shooting such as this one is for people to rush out and buy themselves guns. The more innocent people are killed by guns, the more determined Americans are to possess them. Legislators do not dare challenge this insanity and, indeed, have shown a tendency to allow further loosening of the gun laws. Arizona, for example, has recently passed laws permitting guns to be carried in bars, and to allow the carrying of concealed weapons without a permit. The trouble with America is that it is too democratic. In Britain, parliament is at least sometimes capable of acting out of principle against the popular will, as it did when it abolished capital punishment, but in the US this is impossible.

That is precisely what our form of government was intended to avoid. Arrogant politicians sitting in Washington deciding what’s best for us simple folk.

In the wake of the horrific shooting of Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said Monday he plans to carry a gun while in his home district. “I just feel more comfortable having it there if the unmentionable, if the unfathomable were actually to happen,” the Congressman said.

The federal agency that monitors gun sales wants weapons dealers near the Mexican border to start reporting multiple sales of high-powered rifles, according to a notice published in the Federal Register.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has asked the White House budget office to approve an emergency request requiring border-area gun dealers to report the sales of two or more rifles to the same customer within a five-day period.

This may seem innocuous to some, but it’s not. When it comes to guns and the government you cannot give an inch. This is how you open the door to them. If they can get reporting of rifle sales at the border it will soon expand to everywhere. Then they’ll try and impose limits on the number of rifles you can buy. Then what kind of rifles you can buy. Then the so-called “Assault weapons” ban will come back. This is how it starts.

The Supreme Court says the Constitution’s "right to keep and bear arms" applies nationwide as a restraint on the ability of government to limit its application.

The justices on Monday cast doubt on a Chicago area handgun ban, but also signaled in their 5-4 decision that less severe restrictions could survive legal challenges.

The woman did exactly the right thing in this case. The man threw a picnic table threw her plate glass window to gain entry into her home. She had no choice but to kill him. Thank God she lives in Oklahoma where protecting yourself and your property is still a right. This woman would be dead if she lived in California or New York.

A new Gallup poll of gun owners shows 55% believe President Obama will at some point try and ban guns.

A new Gallup poll may explain recent reports of increased gun and ammunition sales in the U.S. Majorities of those who personally own a gun (55%) and of those with a gun in the household (53%), as well as 41% of all Americans, believe that President Obama "will attempt to ban the sale of guns in the United States while he is president."

It’s certainly not a far fetched thing to believe. Barack Obama has been a fierce critic of gun ownership his entire political career. There was not a single piece of gun control legislation that passed through the Chicago legislature that he did not offer his full-throated support for.

It was only when he decided to run for president that he suddenly put on a more gun friendly face. We’re not fooled. Not only does President Obama despise gun ownership, Attorney General Eric Holder has been a long-time crusader for gun control. Both Obama and Holder have expressed a desire to ban handguns for all Americans.

It’s not likely any kind of ban on guns would be successful even if Obama tried it, but all Americans must remain vigilant. If not for the economy and health care, I suspect Obama would have already tried to reinstate the “assault weapons” ban.

Barack Obama is the most extreme radical leftist ever to occupy The White House. He doesn’t like the Constitution and he doesn’t like capitalism. Therefore, everything he does must be viewed through this lens. Our freedoms, including the right to bear arms, have never been under greater threat than they are right now.
