It’s all about “workers rights” dontcha know! Socialists, Marxists, Communists, Leninists, Trotskyites, Social Democrats, jerks, assholes, and pinkos have descended upon Madison, Wisconsin in large numbers. What was originally a union protest has turned into a Woodstock of sorts. It’s the kind of place where one might find themselves engulfed in a large cloud of smoke saying “far out, dude.”

Were I trapped in the smoke cloud I’d say “unions are finished in Wisconsin, dude.” Now pass that.

The Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to issue municipal identification cards to city residents, regardless of whether they are in the country legally.

Supervisor Tom Ammiano, who authored the ID card legislation, said the program is a smart public safety measure because it would make residents living on the social margins of San Francisco more likely to seek the help of police and could give them more access to banking services.

The truth is that everyone in San Francisco lives on the social margins, that’s why they hate the military, religion, and border security.

It’s totally irresponsible to allow anyone to have an official I.D. card. A terrorist only has to buy a fake passport and then use it to get an official I.D. card and they have officially become a new person. Then they can take that shiny new I.D. and open bank accounts, get drivers licenses, and even vote.

This is yet another example of why San Francisco is completely out of touch with reality.

Two fences. A court order. More than 200 citations. Rain. Cold. Heckling from football fans. Excruciating boredom. And still, almost a year after they clambered up the oaks and redwoods next to Memorial Stadium, the Berkeley tree-sitters remain undaunted in their perches.

Protesters have been in the foliage since December, hoping to save the grove from a proposed $125 million sports training facility. UC wants to remove about 100 trees – about two-thirds of the grove – to build the center, and plans to replace each lost tree with two saplings and one mature tree. All but a few of the trees were planted by the university after the stadium was built in 1923.

“If they want us to come down, they should put the gym somewhere else,” said Kingman Lim, a member of the ground crew of about a dozen supporters who provide the tree-sitters with food and water. “Until then, we’ll do what it takes to protect these trees.”

He said the tree-sitters are not fazed by court orders or threats from the university. They’ll only come down voluntarily when they’re confident the trees will not be removed.

It’s time to bring this hippie crap to an end. These liberal idiots always “camp” whenever they want their way. They should all be tasered until they fall out of the trees, then savagely beaten with batons, and finally hauled off to jail.

Unless you’ve been out of the country you have no doubt heard about the campaign by Democrats to overturn the President’s veto on SCHIP.

It’s been nothing short of “SCHIP mania” on the left for over a week. Someone who doesn’t follow politics closely might think it’s only because they care about kids and want them to have free health care.

I wish that were true, but unfortunately it is not. This crusade is about overturning the President’s veto and the veto just happened to be SCHIP. This has everything to do with defeating the President and nothing to do with the health of kids.

Realizing they’ve probably trotted out as many sick kids as they’re gonna get away with in such a short amount of time, the Democrats have turned back to washed up musicians for help.

So far this week we’ve heard from David Crosby and Graham Nash who were kind enough to weigh-in on both the Iraq War and SCHIP. Then most recently we heard from Paul Simon who made it quite clear that he thinks the President’s veto on SCHIP was “cruel.”

I don’t disagree that the opinion of washed-up, hippie musicians is critical when debating important legislation. Unfortunately, Crosby & Nash just don’t have me convinced and even with Paul Simon it’s still not enough.

However, if the Democrats can get Jerry Garcia to throw his support behind SCHIP from beyond the grave, it goes without saying I’ll be convinced.
