Obama Official Tells Phony U.N. Panel That U.S. ‘Not Perfect’ On Human Rights
The Obama apology tour is continuing even in the halls of such corrupt organizations as the United Nations.
The U.N. “Human Rights” Council which is made up primarily of countries with the worst human rights records on the planet was treated to an apology for the U.S. for our own human rights failures.
President Bush refused to be part of a farcical panel on human rights with such countries as China, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Cameroon.
The Obama administration on the other hand believes we can do more good as a member of the panel. So the 47-member body voted by secret ballot to decide if the U.S. would have the honor of being part of their laughable council.
In the end, the United States received 167 out of 192 votes and was allowed entry into the group.
After the votes were tallied, Obama’s left-wing U.N. ambassador Susan Rice said she understood why we didn’t get more votes. She acknowledged, “We have not been perfect ourselves.”
The idea that the U.S. would grovel and apologize for so-called human rights abuses at the feet of such disgraceful dictatorships as Cuba, Saudi Arabia, and China, is beyond reprehensible — It’s a goddamn disgrace.
This is simply more evidence of what a pathetic, and weak administration we have leading this nation.
Compared to the nations who make up the U.N.’s phony human rights council, we actually are pretty close to perfect.

UN “Human Rights” Commission Passes Resolution Shielding Islam From Criticism
The UN “Human Rights” Commission passed a resolution today put forth by Muslim nations intended to shield religion from criticism. Predictably, by “religion” they of course mean Islam.
The so-called UN “human rights” commission is a joke just like the UN itself. Also, for the record Islam is not a religion of peace. All Muslims are not terrorists, but all terrorists are usually Muslim.
Putin’s New ‘Treason Bill’ Makes The Stalinization Of Russia All But Complete
It looks like the Soviet Union isn’t dead after all. Vladimir Putin has spent years gutting every democratic institution in Russia. No more free media or free speech. No right to assembly, no independent judiciary, etc. Now, it appears that Putin is putting the icing on his totalitarian cake with a new “Treason bill” that is expected to become law.
New legislation backed by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin would allow Russian authorities to label any government critic a traitor—a move that rights activists said Wednesday was a chilling throwback to times of Soviet dictator Josef Stalin.
The bill, which is expected to become law, would expanded the definition of treason to include damaging Russia’s constitutional order, sovereignty or territorial integrity. That, rights activists said, would essentially let authorities interpret any act against state as treason—a crime punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
Activists said that would catapult Russia’s justice system back to the times of Stalin’s purges, calling it “legislation in the spirit of Stalin and Hitler.”
“It returns the Russian justice to the times of 1920-1950s,” the activists, which included Moscow Helsinki Group head Lyudmila Alexeyeva and Civic Assistance director Svetlana Gannushkina, said in a joint statement.
This is the final death nail for any kind of free speech in Russia. Putin’s grip on the country is now complete. Russia is once again a Soviet dictatorship with a KGB man at its head. Up to this point, Russia hasn’t been able to declare open season on human rights, because victims of the regime could complain to the European Court of Human Rights. These complaints are made through NGO’s and the new law will effectively neuter all NGO’s in Russia.
Putin will be free to re-open the gullogs and be the KGB strongman he’s always wanted to be. America haters love to call president Bush a ‘war criminal’ but somehow miss the fact that Vladimir Putin actually is a war criminal. The atrocities committed in Chechnya by the Russian military make Iraq look like Disneyland.
Familes Of 9/11 Victims: Keep Guantánamo Open
The Pentagon finally got some much needed backup today in their seven year battle against far-left human rights cowards desperate to close Guantanamo Bay.
Families of 9/11 victims spoke out passionately today after being invited to witness the military tribunal of a terrorist. Ever since 9/11, the ACLU and other left-wing organizations have conducted a despicable smear campaign against the Bush administration over Gitmo, enhanced interrogation, and the war on terror in general.
Family members of those killed on 9/11 however, aren’t buying into the hype.
“Guantánamo Bay has gotten a bad rap,” said Alice Hoagland, whose son was killed in the 2001 attack.
Hamilton Peterson, whose father was killed that day, said the procedures of the much-criticized military commission tribunal seemed plenty fair. “The entire day,” he said, “was giving these defendants their due.”
The very notion that we should extend the same rights to foreign terrorists captured overseas that American citizens enjoy is more than absurd — it’s dangerous.
All this crap about restoring America’s standing in the world or keeping the moral high ground is a bunch of theoretical nonsense. Sadly, this was demonstrated once again in Mumbai, when a highly trained terrorist group went on a bloody rampage that left 179 people dead.
The reason we haven’t been attacked since 9/11 is not just blind luck. The Bush administration correctly recognized that this is not like any war we’ve ever been involved in. We face an enemy that doesn’t know the first thing about human rights or the Geneva Conventions. The terrorists we face don’t recognize even the most basic rules of war.
There’s no such thing as POW’s or prisoner exchanges. In the War on Terror, if a U.S. soldier is captured by the enemy he’s a dead man pure and simple. The free world has never faced a more unscrupulous and savage enemy as the one we face today.
But human rights organizations and left-wing lawyers can’t seem to get it through their thick skull’s what a serious situation this is. They want the U.S. to fight this war with our hands tied behind our back. The far left has done everything possible to damage the U.S. and hurt the war effort.
The only thing that should matter is getting the information out of the people who have it — by any means necessary.
The cowards on the left who continue to crow about human rights don’t give a damn about keeping this country safe. In their eyes it’s America that is the bad guy and the terrorists freedom fighters are just defending themselves.
People who believe that are idiots and deserve to be marginalized. If you care more about the treatment of the terrorists than you do about saving the lives of your fellow countrymen then you’re a bad American.

Mass Murder Still Continues Inside North Korea
After the decision by North Korea to declare and begin disassembling their nuclear program, the Bush Administration has agreed to lift sanctions long held against the regime in Pyongyang and remove that country from the list of state sponsors of terror.
To show their country is serious about disarming, the North Koreans are planning the televised destruction of the cooling tower at one of their major nuclear facilities at Yongbyon.
U.S. officials are quick to point out that this is only the beginning of a process that will be completed in stages. As the North Koreans fulfill each part of the agreement, the U.S. will in return make good on its promises.
The Bush Administration acknowledges that North Korea has a rich history of deception and broken promises and will of course be watched very carefully. Representatives from the U.S. and the IAEA will be allowed in to the country to monitor the progress of disarmament.
The disarmament of North Korea is of course a wonderful thing, however the world must not forget about the literal genocide that’s taking place in that country.
There is absolutely no country on the face of the earth with a worse record on human rights than North Korea. Kim Jong-IL makes Saddam Hussein look like a choir boy. North Korea is known as “the world’s largest prison camp” which is not an exaggeration by any means.
The cult-of-personality that the current Kim regime and his father before him have created in North Korea is unprecedented anywhere in the world. Most people have no idea the level to which that country is controlled. Their are only two phone lines in the entire country that reach the outside world, and you only need one guess to know who controls them.
More than 3 million North Koreans have died of starvation in recent years due to widespread famine. The Kim regime diverts what food aide it does allow in to the country to the military and party faithful.
The people of North and South Korea are genetically identical people, separated only by razor wire and a Stalinist madman.
However, North Koreans are on average 5″ shorter than South Koreans because of chronic malnutrition and starvation. South Korea is one of most technologically advanced nations in the world with a standard of living comparable to the United States, while North Koreans don’t even have anything to eat.
Human beings in North Korea have no value to the regime. The slightest infraction can result in a life sentence to one of the hundred of political prison camps scattered about the country. Prisoners live about as well as farm animals, and are worked until they die of starvation, hypothermia, sickness, suicide, or execution.
One particular human rights abuse is something right out of Nazi Germany. North Korea routinely tests chemical and biological weapons on prisoners. Sometimes gassing entire families together to study the effect of weapons.
Guards in these prisons are taught that prisoners are not humans but criminals who wish to destroy the country.
Collective punishment is the norm in North Korea. Not only is a suspected dissident arrested but also three generations of his family are imprisoned, to root out the bad blood and seed of dissent. There are children who are literally raised in prison camps if they’re fortunate enough to survive to adulthood. Their only crime is to have ancestors labeled as “criminals” by the regime.
One man who actually escaped from a camp he was born in says he had no idea about the outside world or anything. He thought it natural that he was in a prison camp because of his ancestors crimes.
“I didn’t know about America, or China or the fact that the Korean Peninsula was divided and there was a place called South Korea,” he said. “I thought it was natural that I was in the camp because of my ancestors’ crime, though I never even wondered what that crime was. I never thought it was unfair.”
The government practices total information control. North Koreans have no cell phones, no Internet access, and only limited government controlled television.
The bottom line is that while we celebrate what looks to be a nuclear disarmament of North Korea, we must also remember the horrifying cruelty that the citizens of North Korea will still be forced to endure.
Hollywood lefties love to play activist when it comes to global warming or Darfur, but the people of North Korea are suffering daily atrocities the likes of which the world has only rarely seen.
Robert Mugabe, Saddam Hussein, Fidel Castro, or the Junta in Berma, are all amateurs when it comes to mass murder compared to “Little Kim” of North Korea.

Spanish Parliament To Grant Rights To Apes
A new resolution that extends rights to apes has been submitted to the Spanish parliament and is expected to become law.
The new law will grant apes the right to life and freedom, and it will mark the first time that any national legislature has granted such rights to any non-human.
Once the new law goes in to effect, it will be illegal to keep apes for circuses, television commercials, or filming. The estimated 315 apes that are currently being kept in Spanish zoo’s will be allowed to remain there, but drastic improvements in living conditions for the animals will be required.
Any type of medical testing on apes will also be banned in Spain, although the Spanish government says it’s not aware of any such testing currently being done on apes in Spain.
As over-the-top as some of this sounds, I don’t really think it’s such a bad idea. I think this new law goes a bit far, but I certainly don’t think banning apes from performing in circuses is a bad thing.
The intelligence of apes is absolutely astounding and the way humans typically treat them is very unfortunate. I realize that for the human race to continue we have to be able to test new drugs on something. Apes are our closest living relatives, so it simply has to be done.
Outside of what must be done in the name of medical science, I think we should treat apes and other primates with more respect than we have in the past.
Former Detainees Still Suffer From Trauma
This from the AP:
Former detainees from American military jails in Iraq and Guantanamo Bay are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and lingering physical injuries and scars that can be traced to their imprisonment, according to a human rights group.
Say it isn’t so, I’m all broken up.
Saudi King Heckled in Britain
Demonstrators harassed Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah on Tuesday over the kingdom’s human rights practices and his comments that Britain has failed to do enough to stop terrorism.
Before Abdullah arrived on Monday for the first state visit by a Saudi king in two decades, he accused Britain of failing to act on intelligence that might have prevented the 2005 London transit bombings, triggering debate about the kingdom’s response to terrorism.
About 100 human rights and anti-arms trade activists shouted “Shame on you” at the Muslim leader as he made his way to Buckingham Palace in a royal carriage procession.
I think it would be fair to say that King Abdullah could have acted on intelligence to stop fifteen Saudi citizens from hijacking airplanes and killing 3,000 Americans, as long as we’re giving constructive criticism.
Before giving others advice about how to fight terrorism, the King should consider doing a little house cleaning in that kingdom of his. Saudi Arabia is the epicenter of Sunni extremism and continues to be a breeding ground for terrorists.
