JERUSALEM (AP) – A group of Israeli military officers called off an official visit to Britain last week, fearing they could face arrest on war crimes charges, officials said Tuesday.

The four unidentified officers, holding ranks from major to colonel, are the latest in a string of Israeli politicians and military officials forced to call off travel to Britain over fears of legal prosecution relating to last year’s offensive on the Gaza Strip.

Britain is one of the European pioneers of universal jurisdiction, a broad legal concept that empowers judges to issue arrest warrants for nearly any visitor accused of committing war crimes anywhere in the world.

Pro-Palestinian activists have sought to use this concept to press charges against Israelis involved in military operations in Palestinian territories, particularly since last year’s Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip. British officials have vowed to change the law.

When are the good people of the UK going to wake up and realize that radical leftists and political correctness is literally destroying their society? What a disgrace that Israeli military officials cannot travel freely throughout Europe and the UK for fear of prosecution.

The murdering dogs (aka Palestinians) are using the UK justice system and the phony leftist concept of “universal jurisdiction” to prosecute Israelis for simply defending themselves.

The lengths to which the Israelis go to keep from killing innocent civilians in Gaza and throughout the territories is unprecedented in modern warfare.

The Gaza Strip is one of the most congested pieces of real estate on earth. It’s an urban jungle with human beings packed in like sardines.

The Israeli offensive in Gaza that took place early last year went on for three weeks and was broadcast live around the world. We watched Israeli jets bomb the hell out of Hamas positions and target terrorist leaders with Apache helicopters. Israel acted decisively and with overwhelming force while fully respecting the laws of war.

An extensive investigation by the IDF put the number of Palestinians killed at around 1,166 — 709 of which were Hamas combatants or other militants. 162 deaths were inconclusive and 295 civilians were killed.

It’s absolutely stunning that the Israelis were able to drop thousands of pounds of ordinance in a dense urban environment and only kill 295 civilians. It speaks to the skill of Israeli pilots and the careful planning by their commanders. They don’t drop unless they know what they’re hitting.

For critics of Israel (of which they are many) to howl about war crimes when it’s clear Israel went above and beyond to protect civilian life is an outrage.

Hamas on the other hand follows no rules of war whatsoever. They deliberately target Israeli civilians with rocket attacks, suicide bombings, and kidnappings. Men, women, and children are all fair game at any time day or night.

The fact that critics of Israel decry supposed war crimes by The Jewish State, but ignore actual war crimes by Palestinians proves this is more about hating Jews than hating war crimes.

The Israeli Defense Force has launched its own YouTube channel to cover the current conflict in Gaza. IDF spokesman say it will be continuously updated with videos showing successful strikes on terrorists in Gaza. Not surprisingly, YouTube has already removed some of the videos citing a violation of its terms of use. However, it’s worth noting that terrorists are pretty well free to upload whatever the hell they want to YouTube and only very rarely are their videos removed.

Public relations has long been a failure of the Israeli government when it comes to military conflict. It’s nice to see them finally countering the propaganda put out by the UN and other left-wing organizations who continuously side with the Palestinians and lie about civilian casualties. I don’t believe there’s a more hated group of people on the planet than the Jews. Anytime Israel exercises its right to self-defense they’re called war criminals, but when the terrorist killers in Hamas fire missiles into Israel hoping to murder civilians the majority of the world stays silent.

Israeli military prosecutors have decided not to take any legal action over Israel’s use of cluster bombs during last year’s war in Lebanon, the army said Monday, closing an investigation into a practice that has drawn heavy criticism from the U.N. and international human rights groups. The investigation determined that Israel’s use of the weapons, which open in flight and scatter dozens of bomblets, was a “concrete military necessity” and did not violate international humanitarian law.

In a statement, the army said its chief investigator, Maj. Gen. Gershon HaCohen, determined “it was clear that the majority of the cluster munitions were fired at open and uninhabited areas, areas from which Hezbollah forces operated and in which no civilians were present.”

It said cluster bombs were fired at residential areas only “as an immediate defense response to rocket attacks by Hezbollah” and that Israeli troops did everything possible to minimize civilian casualties.

Disappointed after failing to make their case on Iran and influence the outcome of the U.S. National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) released this week, Israel’s Military Intelligence will present hard evidence on Iran’s nuclear program to the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff who is scheduled to visit the Jewish State over the weekend.

Admiral Michael Mullen will land in Israel Sunday morning for a 24-hour visit that will include a one-on-one meeting with IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, as well as with Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

Mullen will be met by an honor guard at the Kirya Military Headquarters in Tel Aviv and will sit through a day of presentations by IDF generals, including Military Intelligence chief Maj.-Gen. Amos Yadlin and others.

Mullen’s visit will be the first time a chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has visited Israel in the past decade.

Considering that Israel is in the same neighborhood as Iran, it’s not far fetched to imagine their intelligence on Iran to be more accurate than ours.

Israel’s intelligence service is among the best in the world, so it’s definitely in our best interest to hear them out. The NIE really does seem suspicious. It’s a known fact that certain factions of our intelligence community have sought to undermine the Bush Administration’s foreign policy since day one.

A psychiatrist who serves in the IDF reserves is suspected of offering classified information to foreign intelligence officials, including those from Iran, police announced Friday morning.

45-year-old David Shamir, ranked as major in the army, was indicted on severe charges of attempted espionage, contacts with a foreign agent and perverting the course of justice.

He was arrested by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) in cooperation with the Israel Police’s Serious and International Crimes Unit on November 14.

Israel’s air attack on Syria last month was directed against a site that Israeli and American intelligence analysts judged was a partly constructed nuclear reactor, apparently modeled on one North Korea has used to create its stockpile of nuclear weapons fuel, according to American and foreign officials with access to the intelligence reports.
