Alex Barker at the Financial Times is telling a pretty amazing Bush story today. He says at the height of the 2008 election a group of British dignitaries (including Gordon Brown)  visited President Bush in the Oval Office. I’ll let him take it from there…

Naturally the election came up in conversation. Trying to be even-handed and polite, the Brits said something diplomatic about McCain’s campaign, expecting Bush to express some warm words of support for the Republican candidate.

Not a chance. “I probably won’t even vote for the guy,” Bush told the group, according to two people present.“I had to endorse him. But I’d have endorsed Obama if they’d asked me.”

Whoa! Holy sh*t! Now, that’s a story!

I don’t know how you describe the McCain-Snooki back and forth, but it’s certainly funny. John McCain weighed in on Snooki’s recent arrest and his take was “I kind of think she might be too good looking to go to jail.”

Faux Republican Meghan McCain interviewed Jersey Shore star and self-described “guidette” Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi for The Daily Beast.

Snooki told Meghan that she voted for McCain in 2008.

During an interview with Meghan McCain for The Daily Beast, the smallest Jersey Shore guidette told the senator’s daughter that she voted for McCain in 2008 because, "he was really cute and I liked when he did his speeches."

She’s also publicly condemned the Obama imposed 10% tax on tanning beds. I think the GOP needs to aggressively court the guido vote.

Joe Wurzelbacher aka Joe The Plumber was thrust into the national spotlight during the last presidential election when he asked Obama about taxes, to which Obama famously said it’s good to “spread the wealth around”.

Joe became an unlikely champion of average Americans and even went on the road with the McCain campaign. Joe went from being an unlicensed plumber to being a media star. He was booked on all the best shows, became a correspondent for Pajamas Media, and even “wrote” a book.

Fast forward to today and the plumber turned political pundit is bitter and angry. He now says McCain “used” him and really screwed his life up.

He also said angrily that he no longer supports Sarah Palin because she’s planning to campaign for John McCain. “He’s no public servant”, Joe says of McCain.

Keep in mind Joe said all of this during a speech endorsing state Representative Sam Rohrer at his Mobilize for Liberty event in Harrisburg.

Rohrer is allegedly one of more than 200 politicians seeking Joe The Plumber’s endorsement, of which he’s only backing five so far.

Yet, when it was pointed out to Joe that he would be a big fat nobody if it weren’t for John McCain and Sarah Palin he said, “I don’t owe him shit. He really screwed up my life is how I look at it.”

I’m not sure how becoming a coveted endorsement of more than 200 politicians and having national media access has screwed up Joe’s life, but I guess I’ll have to take his word for it.

It seems to me that Joe has let his newly acquired fame go to his head. He reminds of the Tommy Gunn character in Rocky V. Like Gunn, Joe The Plumber is biting the hand that fed him.

I’m no fan of John McCain, but I’m a big fan of loyalty. I’m a big fan of remembering the people who got you where you are. I believe in dancing with the one that brung you.

I respect Sarah Palin for supporting John McCain. They may have differing political philosophies, but she’s not going to throw the man who took a chance on her under the bus. That’s the way people with class treat their friends. Furthermore, John McCain was a strong voice against ObamaCare — even if he was wrong on immigration and interrogation.

Joe doesn’t have to support John McCain, but he doesn’t have to publicly trash him either. Joe is acting like the hobo you give $20 bucks to and as you’re walking away he hits you over the head and takes your wallet. I may not like phony Conservatives like John McCain, but I really don’t like arrogant, backstabbing punks.

Joe doesn’t owe John McCain shit, but Joe wouldn’t have shit if it weren’t for John McCain and he would do well to remember that little fact.

CNN is reporting that Sarah Palin will be campaigning for John McCain in Arizona on March 26 and 27. The hope is that with Palin on his team it will discourage any primary challenges against him from the right.

McCain is definitely not a conservative like Palin, but she’s “dancing with the one that brung her” so to speak — and I have to respect her for that.

Moreover, McCain has been a real leader in the fight against ObamaCare.

Comedian Al Franken who plays a freshman Senator on TV refused to give Joe Lieberman an extra minute to wrap up his presentation. John McCain took issue that.

Even in its now defunct state, the McCain campaign is continuing its pattern of incompetence and disorganization.

This From a local Fox affiliate:

Private information at bargain prices.  It was a high-tech flub at the McCain-Palin campaign headquarters in Arlington when Fox 5’s Investigative Reporter Tisha Thompson bought a Blackberry device containing confidential campaign information.

…We saw laptops ranging between $400 and $600 with logins like “WARROOM08.”  We couldn’t log on without a password, but staffers assured us the hard drive would be zapped before it was sold, and the computer would probably work.

The hottest item?  Blackberry phones at $20 a piece.  There were only 10 left.  All of the batteries had died.  There were no chargers for sale.  But people were snatching them up.  So, we bought a couple.

And ended up with a lot more than we bargained for.

When we charged them up in the newsroom, we found one of the $20 Blackberry phones contained more than 50 phone numbers for people connected with the McCain-Palin campaign, as well as hundreds of emails from early September until a few days after election night.

We traced the Blackberry back to a staffer who worked for “Citizens for McCain,” a group of democrats who threw their support behind the Republican nominee.  The emails contain an insider’s look at how grassroots operations work, full of scheduling questions and rallying cries for support.

Asked to comment on the matter, McCain campaign officials said this:

“They should have wiped that stuff out,” another said.  But he added, “Given the way the campaign was run, this is not a surprise.”

I don’t think I could have possibly summed it up any better than that.
