Court Says Marine Can’t Sue John Murtha For Haditha Smear
A federal appeals court ruled today that corrupt congressman John Murtha can’t be sued for accusing a group of Marines of cold-blooded murder on national television.
Calls For Investigating John Murtha Picking Up Steam
You just gotta love Washington. Rep. John Murtha appears to be up to his eyeballs in corruption involving earmarks and defense contractors, but democrats have thus far refused to investigate.
Even when the FBI raided the offices of contractors Murtha allegedly funneled earmarks through, Democrats refused to remove stimulus money headed for those companies.
Politico has an article today about republican Rep. Jeff Flake repeatedly introducing resolutions calling for an investigation into Murtha’s corruption. Each time he introduces the resolution he peels off a few more democrats who join him in calling for an investigation.
This, according to Politico has democrats worried. House leaders are keeping a close eye on the situation, but Nancy Pelosi remains dead set against an investigation.
One aide worried that democrats may only be one big story away from the Murtha case blowing wide open.
So basically, democrats are acknowledging that Murtha is a corrupt asshole, but so far they’ve been able to keep it under wraps. The issue is not whether Murtha is corrupt, but if his corruption creates a big enough shit storm that they have to take action.
We really do have a sad ass bunch in Washington. The democrats should be crushed under the weight of their own hypocrisy. Nancy Pelosi loved to talk about the republican “culture of corruption” that took root over the last eight years.
She vowed to run “the most ethical Congress in history” which I guess is true if you don’t count the well documented corruption cases involving Chris Dodd, Charlie Rangel, and John Murtha — to name a few.
Let’s also not forget about all the tax cheats that Obama has hired or attempted to hire.

Murtha Calls Western PA “Racist Area”
John Murtha is shooting his stupid, ignorant mouth off again:
The 17-term Democratic congressman tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in a story posted Wednesday on its Web site that, as he put it: “There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area.”
He says it’s taken time for many Pennsylvania voters to come around to liking Obama, but he should still win the state, though not in a runaway.
The message of this election is that anyone who doesn’t support Obama is a racist. It’s not possible to disagree with Obama’s policies, you have to hate him because he’s black.
Hell Freezes Over: Murtha Says The Surge Is Working!
I honesty didn’t think a single one of the “defeatocrats” had the “stones” to admit that the troop surge in Iraq is working. Apparently, hell has in fact frozen over or I’m experiencing the initial signs of schizophrenia, because it appears that John Murtha has finally admitted what most people already know. That the troop surge he promised would not work is working!!
“I think the ’surge’ is working,” the Democrat said in a videoconference from his Johnstown office, describing the president’s decision to commit more than 20,000 additional combat troops this year. But the Iraqis “have got to take care of themselves.”
Violence has dropped significantly in recent months, but Mr. Murtha said he was most encouraged by changes in the once-volatile Anbar province, where locals have started working closely with U.S. forces to isolate insurgents linked to Al Qaeda.
Democrats in recent weeks have used every excuse conceivable for why things are improving in Iraq, steadfastly maintaining that even if things are getting better it’s not because of the troop surge.
They could chalk it up to a an act of god (or Allah as the case may be), but as we all know Democrats are a secular “peoples” so that’s also out.
Provided Mr. Murtha doesn’t suddenly hold another press conference and accuse our troops of “murdering civilians in cold blood” we might just be on the right track.

Dems in Denial: Murtha Dismisses Progress in Iraq
John Murtha apparently couldn’t find any troops to accuse of murder today, so he went back to his standard talking points.
House Democrats’ point man in the war-funding showdown with the White House today dismissed U.S. military gains in Iraq and vowed to tighten the purse strings until President Bush accepts a pullout plan.
“Look at all the people that have been displaced, all the [lost] oil production, unemployment, all those type of things,” said Rep. John P. Murtha, chairman of Appropriations defense subcommittee. “We can’t win militarily.”
The Pennsylvania Democrat conceded violence was down dramatically and some normalcy restored on Iraq’s streets, but he said U.S. victory remains unattainable as long as Baghdad fails to pass national reconciliation laws.
“To change the political law, it doesn’t seem to me you need the military stability,” Mr. Murtha told reporters on Capitol Hill.
The dim view of U.S. military progress in Iraq and a resolve to force a pullout have been echoed by the two top Democrats on Capitol Hill — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California.
The funding standoff will force the Pentagon to make budget cuts at bases in the U.S. to cover the costs of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, including sending furlough notices to as many as 100,000 civilian employees, White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said.
She said the furlough notices could start going out before the Democrat-led Congress returns from a two-week Thanksgiving break.
“We are calling on Congress … to send the president supplemental war funding without arbitrary surrender dates and without micromanaging the war before they leave for their next vacation, which is going to be around the Christmas holidays,” Mrs. Perino said.
“I think that Americans have seen what our troops have been able to do this year,” she said. “We’ve got a long way to go, but they have started to make some significant gains, and to pull the rug out from under them now seems irresponsible.”
House Democrats last week passed a $50 billion emergency war-spending bill that mandated a U.S. pullout start in 30 days with a goal of almost all troops leaving Iraq by December 2008.
Mr. Bush promised to veto the bill and Senate Republicans blocked the bill in a procedural vote Friday.
John Murtha, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid, represent a trifecta of stupid. I wouldn’t trust the “Defeatocrats” to oversee a paintball game, much less a war. After the Democrats are through grand standing, “The Decider” will still get every penny of the war funding with no strings attached.
