The listserv that until only a month ago was a vibrant community of more than 400 liberal journalists and media hacks.

[Click here for yesterday’s Journolist dirt]

While the liberal media and liberals in general have an intense white hot hatred of Conservatives, nothing quite rivals their venomous rage at Fox News.

Fortunately, Journolist is where the liberal media let their totalitarian flags fly and talked openly with each other about what should be done with the #1 cable news channel in America.

Not surprisingly, the idea that got the most support was having the government simply shut the cable channel down. You know, like Hugo Chavez does to the stations he doesn’t like.

“I am genuinely scared” of Fox, wrote Guardian columnist Daniel Davies, because it “shows you that a genuinely shameless and unethical media organisation *cannot* be controlled by any form of peer pressure or self-regulation, and nor can it be successfully cold-shouldered or ostracised. In order to have even a semblance of control, you need a tough legal framework.”

Jonathan Zasloff, a law professor at UCLA, suggested that the federal government simply yank Fox off the air. “I hate to open this can of worms,” he wrote, “but is there any reason why the FCC couldn’t simply pull their broadcasting permit once it expires?”

Only one journalist spoke up and suggested maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to have the government shutting down news organizations it doesn’t agree with.

This cautionary note found little support. The consensus among the journalists was that slippery slope or not — Fox News needs to be shut down.

That’s only a small part of the article and I encourage everyone to click over to Daily Caller and read the entire piece.

-Chris Jones

Confirmed: The Media Did Plot To Protect Obama From Rev. We all remember how reluctant the media was to cover Rev. Wright. They eventually did but ran cover for Obama the whole time.

Thanks to The Daily Caller you can now read the back and fourth between liberal media figures as they frantically searched for a way to rescue Obama from the Wright scandal.

The Washington Independent’s Spencer Ackerman recommended to his liberal colleagues what liberals always recommend — call someone a racist to change the subject.

Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, “Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.”

Believe me it gets much juicer. Everything you ever suspected about the scumbags who claim to bring you the news is confirmed. I can only imagine what other scandals are brewing in Tucker’s vault!

Breitbart Offers $100K Reward For Full JournoList Archive

Conservatives

Politics

andrew breitbart

journolist

liberal media

media bias

I can’t imagine someone not taking Andrew Breitbart up on this offer: I’ve had $100,000 burning in my pocket for the last three months and I’d really like to spend it on a worthy cause. On Politico today, Michael Calderone reveals where the liberal media hones their talking points for the week and decides what far left messages to push — it’s called JournoList.

For the past two years, several hundred left-leaning bloggers, political reporters, magazine writers, policy wonks and academics have talked stories and compared notes in an off-the-record online meeting space called JournoList.

But some of the journalists who participate in the online discussion say — off the record, of course — that it has been a great help in their work. On the record, The New Yorker’s Jeffrey Toobin acknowledged that a Talk of the Town piece — he won’t say which one — got its start in part via a conversation on JournoList. And JLister Eric Alterman, The Nation writer and CUNY professor, said he’s seen discussions that start on the list seep into the world beyond.

Calderone had a tough time finding anyone who would even speak about JournoList on the record, because every member is sworn to secrecy. Those who would talk claim the secrecy makes it seem nefarious, but in reality there is no agenda behind the secret ListServ.

It seems a little strange that a group with allegedly “no agenda” would be made up exclusively of far-left pinko journalists.

Some of the members of JournoList include:

Nobel Prize-winning columnist Paul Krugman; staffers from Newsweek, POLITICO, Huffington Post, The New Republic, The Nation and The New Yorker; policy wonks, academics and bloggers such as Klein and Matthew Yglesias.

I suspect the commentary on JournoList is all the republican bashing, Israel bashing, military bashing, Iraq bashing, and general America bashing the pinko journalists just can’t get away with printing.

The larger story here is the unbelievably breathtaking hypocrisy of the leftist media. They constantly claim that Fox News is somehow in bed the with the GOP when in fact the media, academia, and the democratic party are engaging in orgies that would make Porn Valley jealous.

-Chris Jones
