Cop Who Shot Ft. Hood Gunman Identified As Sgt. Kimberly Munley
The hero cop who shot the Fort Hood gunman and brought the siege to an end has been identified as Sgt. Kimberly Munley. Munley had been specially trained in “active response tactics” and immediately rushed into the building and confronted the gunman.
Munley, who had been trained in active-response tactics, rushed into the building and confronted the shooter as he was turning a corner, Cone said.
"It was an amazing and an aggressive performance by this police officer," Cone said.
Munley was only a few feet from crazed Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan when she opened fire.
Wounded in the exchange of gunfire, Munley was reported in stable condition at a local hospital.
The idea behind “active response tactics” is that if you act aggressively to take out the shooter you will have less casualties.
I’m glad to see law enforcement tactics changing when it comes to crazed gunmen. Too many times, we see cops in SWAT gear standing around outside waiting for the killer to stop shooting people before they act. It’s absurd and only serve to increase the killer’s body count.
