President Obama spoke to radical Latino group La Raza this morning. He spoke of being “tempted” to do things on his own and “not just on immigration reform.”

“The idea of doing things on my own is very tempting. I promise you, not just on immigration reform. But that’s not how our system works. That’s not how our democracy functions. That’s not how our Constitution is written,” Obama said at the National Council of La Raza’s annual conference.

He went on to say he needed a “dance partner” to get amnesty for illegal aliens immigration reform passed. Obama encouraged the militant Latino group to keep building a movement outside Washington. One “they” can’t stop. I assume by “they” he means the American people.

“Let’s be honest, I need a dance partner here, and the floor is empty,” he added, referring to the need for bipartisan congressional support to pass an immigration reform measure.

Members of the audience responded by chanting, “Yes you can, yes you can.”

“I need you to keep building a movement for change outside of Washington, one they can’t stop, one that’s greater than this community,” Obama told them.

Immigration activists (open border agitators) are angry with Obama because he pledged during his campaign to pass immigration reform. Frankly, I don’t know what they’re so pissed about. He and our rogue Attorney General have been working on the back end to ensure only the worst people are deported. If you don’t commit murder and stay out of Arizona you can pretty much rest easy if you’re an illegal alien from Mexico .

Radical Latino curriculum is poisoning young minds in Arizona. Fortunately,  Gov. Jan Brewer was able to ban the classes that promote the overthrow of the US Government, but a lot of nutty stuff still remains. Phyllis Schlafly has written a disturbing piece about this on IBD.

This law bans classes that "promote the overthrow of the United States government" or "promote resentment toward a race or class of people" because schools should treat all pupils as individual Americans. The issue arose because the Tucson School District offers courses in Mexican-American studies (known locally as Raza Studies) that focus on that particular group and its influence.

The law doesn’t prohibit these classes so long as they are open to all students and don’t promote ethnic resentment or solidarity. However, Arizona’s Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Horne, says the basic theme of the Mexican-American studies program is that Latino students "were and continue to be victims of a racist American society driven by the interests of middle- and upper-class whites."

Among the goals listed for the Mexican-American Studies are "social justice" and "Latino Critical Race Pedagogy." Pictures of the classroom showed the walls decorated with "heroes," such as Fidel Castro and Che Guevara.

That’s not even the worst of it. Get a load of what they’re doing to US history:

The state of Arizona requires students to take a course in American history in order to graduate, but Ward said the course was actually not about U.S. history at all. He said it focused solely on the history of the Aztec people, which is the group to which Mexican-American activists ascribe their lineage.

Others who have looked at the books used in these courses say they refer to Americans as "Anglos" or "Euroamericans" rather than as "Americans." The books do not recognize the U.S. as a country, but claim Arizona is part of "Aztlan, Mexico" (even though the Aztecs never lived in what is now the U.S.).

To say that our education system is broken is really an insult. The fact is we no longer have an education system. What we have is a propaganda and brainwashing system masquerading as an education system. Kids are literally being taught a fictional and completely made up version of history. Those who willingly teach this crap to kids are not educators, they’re liars.

According to WorldNetDaily, Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor is a member of the controversial Hispanic organization known as “La Raza” which promotes amnesty and open border policies.

I can’t imagine this could be much of a shock to anyone that she would be a member of that group.

As I said yesterday, republicans should vigorously make their case against her to the American people based on her long record of judicial activism.

The area we should steer clear of is in talking about stuff like this. The democrats are going to hammer the fact that she’s a Latina, blah, blah, blah.

For us to take the bait and start talking about her membership in La Raza is inevitably going to escalate until something is said that offends Hispanics and the democrats are going to jump on it.

Obama chose this woman because of her race and her gender. Republicans need to talk about her record and leave the phony identity politics to the democrats.

Let’s stay focused on her judicial activism and save the immigration debates for another time.
