The Times Online has a great piece about the Iraqi Army’s success in driving Al-Qaeda from the city of Mosul. Finally, after suffering through a failed strategy under Donald Rumsfeld, the situation in Iraq has completely turned around.

U.S. forces are standing up a trustworthy and competent Iraqi Army that has Al-Qaeda on the run, and is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with.

More proof the Iraqi government is finally stepping up:

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki took personal charge Wednesday of a military operation to rout al-Qaida in Iraq in what the U.S. has described as the terror group’s last major stronghold, even as a tenuous cease-fire took hold over Baghdad’s Sadr City slum.
