Taylor Swift Big Winner At Country Music Awards, See The Highlights

November 12, 2009 · Filed Under Entertainment, Video · 2 Comments

Last night was the Country Music Association Awards and Taylor Swift was the night’s big winner. She won four awards including the coveted Entertainer of the Year.

Once the ceremony started, the night belonged to Swift. She was the youngest person ever and first solo female act in 10 years to win the coveted title of Entertainer of the Year.

"I will never forget this moment, because in this moment everything that I have ever wanted has just happened to me," she said in one of her acceptance speeches.

Even fellow award winner Brad Paisley acknowledged that the 19-year-old sensation owned the night. He said she was the reason that country music is so hot right now.

"It’s her," Paisley said. "This 19-year-old came in to show us how to do it."

Here is a couple of Taylor Swift highlight reels from last night, including her two performances:

Update:

I forgot this. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley took a nice dig at Kanye West:

Here’s some news that’s sure to give Kanye West renewed heartburn:

At just 19 years old, country music superstar Taylor Swift continues to shatter records, this time on the Billboard albums chart. This week her debut album, "Taylor Swift," becomes the longest charting album of the century.

Her self-titled debut spends 157 weeks on the chart this week, taking the title for the album spending the most number of weeks inside Billboard’s Top 200 Albums.

Congratulations to Taylor for kicking so much musical ass — and for being a class act while doing so.

Miley Cyrus Debuts Patriotic New Video For ‘Party In The USA’

September 23, 2009 · Filed Under Entertainment, Video · Comment

Patriotic displays are a common occurrence in country music, but relatively rare in mainstream pop music (at least prior to Obama). In fact, you’re much more likely to see some kind of anti-American display than any kind of flag waving.

On the other hand, flag waving is exactly what you get in Miley Cyrus’s new video for her hit single “Party In The USA”. It may well be the most pro-American imagery ever witnessed on MTV.

It’s the kind of blatant, unapologetic patriotism that usually comes with a disclaimer in Nancy Pelosi’s district.

Kudos to Miley for making a great record and a great video.

Also, Miley looks incredibly hot in this video. (I know, I’m not supposed to say that — but somebody had to).

This has nothing to do with politics, but I’m a big hip-hop fan so I thought I’d post the new Jay-Z video featuring Rihanna and Kanye West.

It’s called “Run This Town” and it’s the first single from Jay-Z’s highly anticipated new album Blueprint 3.
