NBC never misses an opportunity to play racial politics and the popularity of Herman Cain within the Republican Party has provided ample opportunity.

One of NBC’s chief racial agitators is Toure. First of all, I don’t trust people with only one name. Secondly, this is what liberals always do to black Conservatives. Most people can recognize this for the total BS that it is.

Keith Olbermann, the liberal, outspoken anchor of MSNBC’s Countdown show, had his contract dramatically terminated by the US cable news network’s parent company NBC on Friday night.

Olbermann had two years of a four year contract remaining, worth an estimated m, and was the network’s highest-rated personality, responsible in large part for MSNBC’s orientation as a liberal, Democratic-leaning channel.

Abruptly announcing in a lengthy farewell that the current show would be his last, Olbermann said: “This may be the only television programme wherein the host was much more in awe of the audience than vice versa. You will always be in my heart for that.”

Giving no reason for the departure, Olbermann ended by calmly reading aloud a piece by James Thurber before signing off with the words: “Good night and good luck.”

While Olbermann was live on-air, NBC issued a statement reading:

Statement regarding Keith Olbermann

MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract. The last broadcast of Countdown with Keith Olbermann will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC’s success and we wish him well in his future endeavors.

The Associated Press reported that Phil Griffin, MSNBC’s president, would not comment on Olbermann’s sudden departure. But a spokesman did say that the acquistion of NBC Universal by cable and telecoms giant Comcast, which received regulatory approval this week, had nothing to do with the decision.

As speculation swirled about the timing, Comcast later put out a statement denying any connection:

“Comcast has not closed the transaction for [NBC-Universal] and has no operational control at any of its properties including MSNBC. We pledged from the day the deal was announced that we would not interfere with NBCU’s news operations. We have not and we will not.”

Olbermann had a stormy relationship with management and had been suspended from hosting the nightly show by the network last November after violating station rules by making donations to three Democratic candidates. He was reinstated the following week. (One of the three candidates was Gabrielle Giffords, the Arizona congresswomen attacked in Tucson.)

Olbermann’s show Countdown, which screened at 8pm and repeated at 11pm, was the network’s top-rated programme. On Thursday the show attracted 1.1 million viewers, according to Nielsen ratings, far ahead of CNN’s Parker-Spitzer, which managed just 520,000 in the same time slot. Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly – a frequent target of Olbermann’s ire – dominated the hour with 2.9 million viewers.

Olbermann’s departure leaves Rachel Maddow as the network’s biggest name. Appearing on the Bill Maher show on HBO last night, Maddow said: “All I know is that it was between Keith and the company.”

MSNBC later announced that Lawrence O’Donnell, host of the channel’s 10pm output, will take over the 8pm slot, with Ed Schultz’s show moving from 6pm to 10pm.

Media commentator Dan Kennedy summed up Olbermann’s value to MSNBC:

MSNBC executives tonight should be thanking their stars that Olbermann came along when he did. It was he who led the way toward transforming the operation into a liberal alternative to Fox News — a profitable network that, though still far behind Fox, kicks CNN’s tail in the ratings.

Piers Morgan, finishing his first week as host of CNN’s 9pm interview slot, tweeted:

American TV needs a @KeithOlbermann – whether you agree with him or not, he’s got passion. And that’s always a good thing.

This kind of crap makes me sick. NBC is promoting an incredibly disturbed mother who’s hocking a book called “My Princess Boy” about her 5-year old son who likes to wear dresses. I suspect every 5-year old boy in America has put on a dress once or twice. They don’t realize what they’re doing and don’t know any better. It’s no big deal. But to actually encourage it and start calling him “My Princess Boy” is absolutely outrageous. It’s sick. It’s child abuse.

As for NBC promoting it, I’m not one bit surpised. The liberal media LOVES this kind of thing. These kinds of stories practically jack straight into the pleasure centers of the liberal brain. Thoughts of “tolerance,” “diversity,” and “false gender roles” comfort the liberal mind like a warm blanket. Journalists harken back to the militant feminism they learned at Columbia and get nostalgic. “Princess Boy” is the living embodiment of what our society can and should be in the minds of liberals.

Howard Kurtz is reporting that Keith Olbermann’s latest dust-up with MSNBC brass has left him with literally no friends. He scarcely had any before, but now he’s all alone. Kurtz outlines the considerable rancor and controversy within the company over Olbermann’s campaign donations and his general attitude.

One hilarious gem is that Olbermann is such a narcissistic tool that no one is allowed to speak to him directly. Staff must leave notes outside his office door.

I told you a couple of days ago about the NY Times’s Alessandra Stanley attacking NBC for their pro-American coverage of the Olympics.

Now, the Washington Post is getting in on the America-bashing action. Radical leftist Susan Jacoby took to her WaPo blog, “The Spirited Atheist” to bash American patriotism as “anti-intellectual” and a “social disease”.

If you would like a graphic (literal and figurative) demonstration of our nation’s greatest failing, sit in front of your television set and watch NBC cover an international sports event, the Winter Olympics, as if only Americans were participating.

…The conviction that the United States is morally and culturally better than other
countries–including other developed democracies–is a real social disease that hurts us more than it does anyone else. It is also a profoundly anti-intellectual.

She goes on to cite achievement test scores of other nation’s children as a major reason our pride in America is unwarranted, or at least overblown. Our failure to adopt a European style socialized health care system is another reason we suck, and Canada and Europe rule.

Jacoby touts Canada’s glorious free health system even as a Canadian Premiere Danny Williams is taking heat for coming to the US for his heart surgery.

Williams defended his decision to seek treatment in the US, saying, "This was my heart, my choice and my health.”

Anyway, Jacoby goes on to complain that NBC could have used the Olympics being in Vancouver to highlight Canada’s health system and shill for ObamaCare — instead of clucking about “Team USA’s” medal count.

She also bashes religion and America’s embrace of it — Christianity in particular.

Susan Jacoby’s message is not new and is the same basic mantra we’ve heard from the left for years. Americans are a bunch of God loving, gun loving, patriotic hicks, who are too stupid to realize how much better Europeans have it.

My question for Susan Jacoby is simple. If Europe is so damn great and their health system is so superior, why the hell do you live here?

It looks like Conan O’Brien has no intention of going along with the new Tonight Show time slot. Judging from the lengthy public statement he released, I’d say he sounds pretty pissed off about the whole thing.

He basically says that if NBC intends to move his program to the 12:05 time slot it’s going to be without him.
