You can almost see Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in his office in the Kremlin laughing maniacally and high fiving staffers over this one. Russia never misses an opportunity to needle us a little bit on the world stage.

Russia has suggested that Julian Assange should be awarded the Nobel peace prize, in an unexpected show of support from Moscow for the jailed WikiLeaks founder.

In what appears to be a calculated dig at the US, the Kremlin urged non-governmental organisations to think seriously about "nominating Assange as a Nobel Prize laureate".

"Public and non-governmental organisations should think of how to help him," the source from inside president Dmitry Medvedev’s office told Russian news agencies. Speaking in Brussels, where Medvedev was attending a Russia-EU summit yesterday , the source went on: "Maybe, nominate him as a Nobel Prize laureate."

Nicely played, Dmitry.

We can all laugh now, but if I were Medvedev I wouldn’t chortle too hard. It’s only a matter of time before WikiLeaks drops some leakage on us from Russia — assuming Assange has the balls. Words simply cannot describe how infinitely worse any kind of leak coming out of Russia would be. Whether it’s business or government related you can bet it’s going to be shady as hell. Russia is a cesspool of corruption.

Here is President Obama’s complete Nobel Peace Prize speech. It’s actually not a bad speech. Given the setting and circumstance he used some surprisingly tough language in the first part. I’m not sure how much of what he said he really believes, but I never do.

Ironically, his Peace Prize speech is the least apologetic of any overseas speech he’s given thus far.

It was bad enough when Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize for phony global warming, but at least he accomplished something. He convinced the world of something that isn’t real — that takes talent.

Barack Obama on the other hand has accomplished nothing. He accomplished nothing before becoming president and has accomplished nothing sense. He won the award because he speaks the exact same language most Europeans speak — the language of appeasement.

He won the award because the world knows he’s a weak leader who won’t make trouble. He’s a pushover which is exactly how Europe likes the American president to be.

Barack Obama is in good company though. Yasser Arafat, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, and now Barack Obama! Well done, sir.

The much anticipated meeting between Al Gore and President Bush went off without a hitch today. Gore telling reporters that he and the President bloviated spoke about global warming the entire time.

He characterized the meeting as “very cordial” and “substantive,” but declined to give any further details.

Gore had come, along with the other American winners of the 2007 Nobel Prize, for an official reception by the president.

The president, who had personally telephoned Gore to invite him and arranged the date of the Nobel recognitions to fit Gore’s own travel schedule, also received the Democrat and wife Tipper Gore for a private session before the “photo-op’’ with Gore’s fellow Nobel laureates.

Former Vice President Al Gore and the U.N.’s climate change panel won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for spreading awareness of man-made climate change and laying the foundations for counteracting it.

Gore, whose film on global warming, “An Inconvenient Truth,” won an Academy Award earlier this year, had been widely tipped to win Friday’s prize, which expanded the Norwegian committee’s expanded interpretation of peacemaking and disarmament efforts that have traditionally been the award’s foundations.
