It’s not often that I agree with op-ed’s in The NY Slimes, but today is the exception. Ross Douthat makes a very compelling against using military action in Libya. I’m a big believer in America’s moral responsibility to stop genocidal dictators, but our nation is in an unusually weakened and vulnerable state. Our military is tired from 10 years of brutal warfare and financially we’re broke. It may be wise to sit this one out. We can do far more good in the world later on once we get our fiscal house in order.

Having said that, I don’t believe for one second that Barack Obama has any intention of going to war anyway. Ever. With anyone. So it’s probably a moot point.

The NY Slimes and other liberal media outlets are gonna ride this “violent rhetoric” narrative as far as they possibly can. Accusing Conservatives of inciting violence is just like accusing them of racism, it’s meant to intimidate and silence. Fortunately, it’s not working. But that’s not stopping The Times from trying anyway.

Glenn Beck often mentions radical Marxist professor Frances Fox Piven. She’s a 78-year old dingbat who teaches at City University of New York. The old bag has been trying to cause a violent revolution in this country for decades. Because of the radical student/union protests in Britain and throughout Europe recently, Piven has begun agitating once again. She’s been advising liberal groups to use the radicals in Europe as an example. She wants young people to get out in the streets and get violent.

Because Glenn Beck has pointed this out, The Times says he’s endangering her life. She’s allegedly received death threats.

The hypocrisy of the liberal media knows no bounds. Beck has to have round the clock security because of the hatred directed towards him. Whenever a left wing rag does a hit piece on Beck he gets an elevated number of death threats. Why is the liberal media endangering his life?

When the liberal media blamed the Arizona Massacre on Sarah Palin, she had to hire more security due to an unprecedented level of death threats. Why is the liberal media trying to get her killed? Why is Frances Fox Piven’s life worth more than Beck’s or Palin’s?

When is the media going to stop inciting violence against Conservatives?

Glenn Beck fired back at The NY Times today on the radio:

Bill O’Reilly was in rare form last night. He went after The NY Times and the liberal media with a vengeance for their lies and hypocrisy regarding the Arizona shooter. It was his best “Talking Points Memo” in a very long time.

The NY Times has a very interesting and very loooooong piece this morning about Sarah Palin’s inner circle. It’s by author Robert Draper who also wrote a book about the Bush presidency called “Dead Certain.”

Draper says it took him months to get anyone inside the “Palin Network” to talk to him. Only after Sarah gave approval did anyone finally open up.

Bush’s former deputy campaign manager became a close aide to Sarah Palin during the 2008 election and has stayed on with her since. He says trust is the biggest issue when it comes to working for Palin. She and her family have been burned too many times to just let anyone in. Davis says those who work for Palin do so out of devotion to her not to politics.

They are content to labor in a world without hierarchy or even job descriptions — “None of us has titles,” Davis said — and where the adhesive is a personal devotion to Palin rather than the furtherance of her political career.

Draper did eventually speak to Sarah Palin herself. She confirmed to him that she is indeed considering a presidential run in 2012. However, that’s a conversation she’s still having with her family and family comes first.

That’s only a tiny taste of the article. I’m not joking when I say it’s long. It’s not quite as long as the Glenn Beck article a few weeks ago, but damn close. That said, it’s a fascinating piece and worth a read.

Fox News caught up with Sarah Palin to ask her about bitchy Maureen Dowd’s recent column about “mean” Republican women. Dowd Called Palin the “queen bee” of mean.

The New York Times has maybe the longest profile ever written in American history about Glenn Beck today. Okay, maybe it’s not quite that long — but it’s LONG. Anyway, it’s also really good. It’s not a hatchet job at all. The piece pretty much answers any question you’ve ever had about Beck. He details the suicide of his mother. He reveals that it was none other than Sen. Joe Lieberman who got him into Yale where he only took one class before dropping out. I knew about Yale, but didn’t know Lieberman got him in. The article is full of interesting details I hadn’t heard before.

I encourage everyone to take the rest of the afternoon off and part of tomorrow and read the piece.

An Australian reporter actually accompanied Wikileaks founder Julian Assange as he went into hiding and prepared to leak the 90,000+ pages of classified Afghan war reports.

He made a documentary called “Inside Wikileaks” that you can watch below. Assange says he huddled at The Guardian HQ in the UK (or bunker as he calls it) with a reporter from the NY Times, Der Spiegel and The Guardian to work on the leaked documents.

Towards the end of the show when it’s time to go public with the documents along with the cooperating media outlets, The Times emails Assange and tells him they don’t want to publish first. They ask him to go public on Wikileaks first to give them cover.

The NY Times’s Alessandra Stanley takes issue with NBC’s coverage of the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. It’s just too damn pro-American!

Technology evolves, organizers add new sports — this year it’s ski cross — but NBC’s Olympic reportage, up close and way too personal, never seems to change. And in Vancouver the best exploits of what the network unfailingly refers to as “Team USA” only bring out the worst in network heavy breathing.

At a time when American athletes are amassing record numbers of medals, and NBC is drawing an impressive number of viewers, sports fans couldn’t ask for more fulsome, pro-American coverage — they could ask for a little less. NBC anchors, including those paid by the news division, glom onto the glamour and reflected glory of winsome champions, as per Matt Lauer’s no-boundaries embrace of the skier Lindsey Vonn on “Today” after she won the downhill race.

Yeah, Americans don’t want to hear about their fellow countrymen (or is it comrades now?) winning a bunch of gold medals. Screw that shit, tell us about the other countries instead.

NBC has been so intent on fellowship and the thrill of victory that it has neglected the thrill of an agonizing defeat, namely Russia’s. NBC paid only cursory attention to Russian bitterness over Yevgeny Plushenko losing the gold medal to the American Evan Lysacek, even after the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir V. Putin weighed in with neo-cold-war disdain. The 2014 games are to be held in Sochi, a Black Sea resort, and Russia will be the host. For viewers seeking an international playing field, CNN may be a better bet.

I don’t really know how much more they could have devoted to that story. Vladimir Putin bitching about America in a posturing cold war tone is certainly nothing new. I think the better part of the story is the part NBC gave the most coverage to. During his interview with Bob Costas, American gold medalist Evan Lysacek spoke about his win over the angry Russian. He wondered if Putin would allow him into the country to compete at the 2014 games being held in Russia.

Alessandra Stanley’s bitterness over the pro-America tone of the NBC coverage is typical of the left. Leftists don’t view America as anything special. If anything, it’s an embarrassment (or it was until Obama was elected). In their view America is no better than any other place in the world and coverage of the Olympics should reflect that.

Fortunately, the leftist view of America is a minority one. A sad, lonely, pathetic minority.

This is hilarious. Joe Kernan really nails it. The only place David Brooks is considered “conservative” is on the pages of the NY Slimes NY Times. The man voted for Barack Obama — he’s no conservative. David Brooks is a phony, elitist hack masquerading as a conservative.
