Palin Smears Reach Fever Pitch

September 2, 2008 · Filed Under sarah palin · 8 Comments

It is absolutely breathtaking the speed at which the entire far left machine geared up to try and destroy Gov. Sarah Palin. All the feminist arguments so often heard on the left have apparently been temporarily suspended until the total destruction of Sarah Palin and her entire family is complete.

All the most hateful left-wing blogs have focused like a laser beam on Palin and her family. At least 95% of the posts on far left hate sites like Daily Kos and The Huffington Post are focused almost exclusively on Gov. Palin and her family. You can follow the smears almost minute by minute as bloggers post new ‘dirt’ that they hope will do some damage.

The Huffington Post has taken to posting pictures and excerpts from the Myspace page of Bristol Palin’s boyfriend. Bristol is the pregnant 17-year old daughter of Gov. Palin and the latest member of the Palin family marked for destruction.

The newest attack formed within the hour appears to focus on Gov. Palin’s church. Hungry for revenge after Rev. Wright, liberal bloggers are trying to create the narrative that Palin has a ‘controversial worldview’ because she told her church congregation that completing the mission in Iraq was God’s work. I don’t think that’s gonna have same sizzle as “God Damn America!” but I could be wrong.

There’s also an effort to tie Palin to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, and an effort to tie her husband to the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP) which supposedly wants Alaska to secede. They’re also trying to tie the Gov. to indicted Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens.

All the attacks just mentioned also come with a heaping portion of hatred for Gov. Palin just on general principal because she’s a conservative woman, a pro-lifer, NRA member, hunter, Christian, and a mother of five. They also hate her husband because he’s married to her, they hate her kids because they’re her offspring. They hate her town because people talk funny and kill their own food. They hate the state of Alaska because she’s the Governor and it’s a state whose citizens are demanding that we “drill here drill now.”

It’s to be expected that opponents would throw everything at Gov. Palin to discredit her, but I can’t recall another time when an effort to destroy a candidate extended to kids and family.

Is this really what it’s coming down to in America? That political opponents will try and publicly humiliate and smear a candidate’s children in the hopes of damaging the candidate? It seems like a given that you leave people’s children out of it. I have no doubt that Gov. Palin can take the heat and give a little back herself, but her children should not have to deal with it.

The one bright side to all this vitriol is that hopefully it will finally expose the far left as the vicious and hateful fascists that they are. Since this is the crew that currently controls the Democratic party, voting for a Democrat is directly supporting sites like Huffington Post, Daily Kos, Firedoglake, TPM, Crooks and Liars, and of course MoveOn.org.

Most patriotic Democrats who live in the heartland of America have no idea just how radical their party has become. If they knew the kind of despicable people they were supporting when they vote for Democrats they may rethink their vote.

Scott McClellan: Finished At 40

May 28, 2008 · Filed Under Opinion, Scott McClellan · Comment

The more I think about Scott McClellan’s book, the more I wonder what his motives are. I’m far too cynical to believe he just wants to “do the right thing” and “come clean.” In fact, that’s the least likely motivation but one the Democrats are sure to play-up.

Whether or not the allegations in the book are true is irrelevant, it’s McClellan’s motivation for basically spitting on every person who helped him get ahead over the last 10 years that I wonder about. Scott is only 40 years old, but his book will guarantee that he never works in Washington ever again, at least not for any Republican.

I’ve actually met Scott’s mother, Carole Keeton Strayhorn, a few times when she was running for Governor here in the great state of Texas. Scott got his start working for her after he graduated from college when she was running for Mayor of Austin.

So Scott’s roots in Texas politics run deep and the most powerful family in Texas is of course the Bushes. George W. Bush’s longtime friend and confidant Karen Hughes hired McClellan to be then Governor Bush’s deputy press secretary.

To make a long story short, for someone who wants a career in Republican politics, working for the Bush family is about as good as it gets. So Scott worked for Bush throughout his two terms as Governor of Texas and continued through the 2000 election.

In early 2003, President Bush appointed Scott to the prestigious post of Deputy White House Press Secretary. Later that same year he became White House Press Secretary when Ari Fleischer stepped down.

Then in April of 2006, Scott announced his resignation.

Now in 2008, Scott has apparently decided that everyone he’s ever worked for can just go to hell. He’s decided to adopt nearly every left-wing talking point word for word and throw it at the President in an election season no less.

He’s even decided to commit the ultimate betrayal and appear on Countdown With Keith Olbermann next week to tout his book.

Even if everything McClellan says in the book is true, why would a person be that disloyal? He was part of an ultra-exclusive club in which few people can ever claim membership to.

Once your “in”, the only cost for keeping your membership is simply to “dance with the one who brung you” so to speak.

Maybe I’m just overly ambitious or morally bankrupt, but if President Bush had given me my career and considered me a friend, I would never even think of betraying him like that.

One thing President Bush is known for and his family is known for is their fierce loyalty. If your a loyal “Bushie” they don’t forget that. In fact, Scott’s brother Mark is the current Medicare Director and the former food and drug administrator under President Bush.

The bottom line is that Scott McClellan is a f*cking idiot to have destroyed an otherwise bright future at the ripe old age of 40.

He’s finished in the Republican Party forever, but I guess like everyone else he’s hoping Barack Obama throws him a few bread crumbs. However, I wouldn’t count on it.

Karl Rove: The Liberal Media’s Favorite Boogie Man

With the exception of Dick Cheney I don’t think there has been a more vilified political figure in Washington than Karl Rove. Many Democratic strategists loath him, but also want to be like him.

All the usual suspects are trying to squeeze out a few more columns about Rove, before he leaves town allegedly for good.

His status in Washington is almost mythical, with the Democrats making fresh accusations almost weekly about his supposed involvement in this thing or that.

The liberal bloggers headed up by Daily Kos are foaming at the mouth at the prospect of his sudden retirement being due to a coming indictment for something, anything.

An editorial in today’s New York Times titled Mr. Rove Gets Out of Town fantasizes about indictments in the very first paragraph.

“Karl Rove, the architect of so much that has gone so wrong with the Bush administration, announced yesterday that he is leaving the White House to spend more time with his family. What he didn’t say is that by getting out of town he is also hoping to avoid spending any time at all with Congressional investigators.”

“Congress should not oblige.”

Even in Republican circles Rove was extremely well respected, but many felt he was mostly to blame for the persistent attacks on the GOP by the Democrat controlled congress.

Bob Novak writes in his column Karl Rove’s Legacy:

“While Rove decamping back to Texas is unlikely to defang the opposition, the mere fact that it is mentioned as a possibility reveals the ambiguity of his legacy. Rove is one of the canniest and most successful managers in American political history. Yet he is viewed within his own party’s ranks, especially on Capitol Hill, as part of the problem afflicting the Grand Old Party.”

I personally don’t blame Rove for retiring. It’s one thing to weather daily political attacks, but when the opposition keeps opening fresh investigations in hopes of finding something to send you to prison that is another matter entirely.

Patrick Fitzgerald knew from the beginning that Richard Armitage was the one who leaked Valerie Plame’s name, but he was determined to send someone to the clink for something.

It was only a matter of time until the Democrats found something that Karl Rove wrote in a memo or something obscure they could use to bring an indictment against him for god only knows what.

It kind of changes the stakes in Washington a bit when the opposition isn’t satisfied with just ruining you politically, there playing for keeps and want nothing short of your life.
