Putin Sends Telegramme To Bush Hours Before Obama Meeting

Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin praised the hospitality and openness of U.S. former President George W. Bush in a telegramme sent hours before meeting his successor Barack Obama.

"During the last years we have been working on strengthening Russia-U.S. cooperation. Although there were differences between our countries, I always valued your openness and sincerity," Putin said, congratulating Bush on his 63rd birthday on July 6.

"With special warmth I recall your hospitality in the Crawford ranch and your family estate in Kennebunkport," Putin wrote, referring to their 2007 meeting at the Bush family vacation home when the two leaders went fishing and ate lobster.

Putin’s soul may be black as a charcoal briquette, but it was certainly classy of him to send a birthday greeting and thank you to president Bush. Bush really did go out of his way to reach out to Russia throughout his presidency.

Also, I didn’t even know you could send a telegramme anymore. What’s up with that?

You almost half to laugh when you hear Joe Biden make such ridiculous claims. He says America was less safe under Bush than at any time since WWII. What a bunch of crap. Bush was one of the most aggressive presidents we’ve ever had in terms of foreign policy.

He did whatever and I mean whatever was necessary to keep us safe even when it was legally suspect.

But we’re actually supposed to believe Joe the clown when he says we’re more safe. More safe now that Obama is rolling back all the war on terror policies that kept this country safe for eight years?

We’ll be safer when Obama releases Gitmo detainees on the streets of America?

We’ll be safer as he stands by and does nothing while North Korea fires rockets and Iran continues its path towards nuclear weapons?

We’re safer now that interrogators can only politely ask terrorists what they’re planning? Obama doesn’t know the first damn thing about national security or protecting this country. He has a rigid set of left-wing beliefs that put world opinion above national security.

Bush didn’t give a damn what the pussy Europeans thought about his policies, he did what he had to do.

I can promise you that no matter what North Korea or Iran does Obama will NEVER and I mean NEVER order any kind of military response.

Short of a direct attack on the homeland Obama will do nothing but send his minions to jawbone at the UN endlessly while threats gather.

At the end of the day, America is going to owe Israel a debt of gratitude for taking action against Iran and stopping their nuclear program.

Bush’s Effort To Combat AIDS In Africa Saved 1.1 Million Lives

A recently released study from Stanford University says that former President Bush’s PEPFAR (President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) program in Africa saved more than 1.1 million lives, and cut the mortality rate of the disease by 10 percent.

PEPFAR is the most sweeping attempt at combating AIDS in Africa in human history. President Bush spent more money on fighting AIDS in Africa than any human being on earth.

Much to the chagrin of liberals, it wasn’t left-wing rock bands or benefit concerts that are saving the people of Africa, but their arch nemesis George W. Bush.

Someone should let Kanye West know that George Bush apparently does care about black people.

The Subtle Campaign To Restore Bush’s Image

One thing the Obama camp and democrats in general have been masters at is demonizing president Bush. Democrats love to talk about “the last eight years” as if they were the most brutal and savage years in American history.

Liberals lament the so-called “Bush economic policies” that “got us into this mess” and pretend that all of America’s ills are the fault of George W. Bush A.K.A. Hitler A.K.A. War Criminal, etc.

There’s been a never ending campaign by the far left to rewrite history and paint the last eight years as nothing but misery.

Thankfully, many of Bush’s inner circle are pushing back subtly, gently reminding Americans about the many good things that happened under president Bush. Politico has an interesting story about this and the players involved.

The loose confederation of “Bush defense forces” as Politico calls them include Ari Fleischer, Dana Perino, Karl Rove, Tony Fratto, Peter Wehner, and Michael Gerson. They say it’s not any kind of organized or planned effort to restore Bush’s image, but they believe in what they did over the last eight years and want to correct the record now that they can speak more freely.

For instance, Ari Fleischer is using the current economic crisis to push back against those who blame “Bush economic policies” for the crisis.

He quite correctly points out that Bush oversaw an unprecedented 55 straight months of job creation and economic growth. Even after the financial turmoil that 9/11 caused, America’s economy was booming for the first six years of the Bush presidency.

Bush attempted early in his presidency to put new restrictions on Fannie and Freddie to prevent the very kind of mortgage mess we’re experiencing, but he was blocked by at every turn by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd.

There’s also been subtle pushback on issues such as stem cells, energy, and the budget.

Iraq Holds Successful Elections, Media Silent

You wouldn’t know it by watching the news, but believe it or not Iraq held successful elections a couple of days ago with no violence. More importantly, it was Iraqi military and police who were in control of security — not American soldiers. 14 out of 18 provinces in Iraq held elections (the other three will be in a separate election later in the year) with thousands of candidates representing every political party and ideology imaginable. This is a first in the Arab world and a historical moment for the entire region.

These provincial elections were held in 14 of the country’s 18 provinces (Kurdistan will hold separate elections, and the disputed oil-rich city of Kirkuk was deemed “too hard” at present). This was the first post-Saddam election that the Iraqis handled themselves. Iraqi soldiers protected the polling stations. It was also the first election to have international observers in all 712 constituencies. In 2005 terrorist attacks made that too dangerous. Then, more than 200 candidates were killed – this time, eight died. There were 14,412 candidates standing for office, an impressive number.

This was also the first election in which there was no boycott on ethnic or sectarian grounds. There was an enormous spread of views represented on the ballot papers – Iraq is the only Arab country which offers almost everyone, including Trotskyites and monarchists, the freedom to stand for election.

If you notice, there was only a passing mention of the elections by the mainstream media who tried everything to engineer a defeat for America. The cowardly democrats led by Harry Reid also tried to make us lose, but they too failed. The liberal democrats were hoping for failure at the outset, but even the republicans who were initially on board with the mission later attempted to get president Bush to pull out.

The only person who stood steadfast throughout and refused to see America defeated was president Bush. Approval rating, reputation, and legacy be damned he stuck it out, doubled down, and saw us to victory.

Obama Shows Some Class, Calls Bush “Good Guy”

Unlike 99% of his party, president-elect Barack Obama appears to have some class. Obama told CNN’s John King that he always felt personally that Bush was a good guy.

After two years of traveling around the country criticizing President Bush, President-elect Barack Obama said Friday that he “always thought [Bush] was a good guy.”

“I mean, I think personally he is a good man who loves his family and loves his country,” Obama said in an exclusive interview with CNN’s John King.

When pressed about his rhetoric on the campaign trail that was highly critical of Bush, Obama went further:

Asked if there was anything he wanted to take back, now that he has spent more time with the president, Obama praised Bush’s team for helping with a smooth transition and said part of what America is about is being able to have “disagreements politically and yet treat each other civilly.”

Obama also said he thought Bush made “the best decisions that he could at times under some very difficult circumstances.”

He went on to add that he still thinks many bad decisions were made over the last few years. Obama deserves kudos for not kicking president bush on his way out of office like the cretins in the liberal media continue to do.
