Last night’s debate was no exception. Along with his usual “blame America first” rhetoric, Ron Paul repeated a widely discredited falsehood spread by the extreme left. That the Iraq war killed more than 1 million Iraqis. That is an outright lie and an outrageous and inflammatory one at that. Independent studies over the years have come to differing conclusions on the total number because it’s so hard to tell. The credible studies put the number between 100,000 and 250,000 deaths. The vast majority of those deaths were from insurgents targeting Iraqis and not from the US military.

The classified DOD reports on Iraqi casualties that WikiLeaks released known as the “Iraq War Logs” put the death toll at 109,032 dead with 66,081 of those being civilian deaths. The 1,000,000+ dead Ron Paul touts is an absurd number on its face. That would be like genocide taking place in Iraq. The North Korean dictatorship has starved between 1 and 3 million North Koreans to death since the mid 1990′s just to put that number into perspective.

Ron Paul has some of the most dangerous foreign policy ideas ever uttered on the Republican Party platform. His attempt to equate our policy of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) with the Soviet Union during the Cold War to our current standoff with Iran shows his ignorance. His argument is that it doesn’t matter if Iran gets nukes because as with the Soviets, we can pursue a policy of MAD. The reason this is absurd is because the Soviet Union was a rational actor. The Soviets genuinely did not wish to be vaporized in a nuclear strike any more than we did.

The Iranian Mullahs do not share this feeling. Their radical Islamic doctrine welcomes death. They consider that “martyrdom” and see it as a sure path to heaven. Even though Israel has a second strike capability that would turn Tehran into ash, the Mullahs might view the extermination of the Jewish state as worth it.

Consider what Iran did during the Iran/Iraq war of the 1980s:

The Iran Iraq conflict spawned a particularly gruesome variant of the “Human Wave” attack. The Iranian clergy rejected professional military doctrine because they felt that God endorsed their struggle. This could also have been because they had no professional military training and a lack of modern weapons. Pasdaran forces and Basij volunteers as young as 9 years old were used to sweep over over minefields and entrenched positions developed by the more professional Iraqi military opposition. The Iranians lacked the equipment to breach Iraqi minefields and were not willing to risk their small tank force. Therefore unarmed human-wave tactics, often involving children who were apparently considered expendable, were employed. One East European journalist reports seeing “tens of thousands of children, roped together in groups of about 20 to prevent the faint-hearted from deserting, make such an attack.” It has been suggested that girls were more commonly used for frontline mine clearance, and boys for unarmed “assaults”. The children were reportedly issued with a special “Paradise Key” as a symbol of martyrdom by the Mullahs.

If that’s not crazy I don’t know what is. Allowing the lunatic Mullahs in Iran to get nuclear weapons would be a disaster for the entire world.

UPDATE

Here’s Ron Paul denying the very existence of an Iranian nuclear weapons program.

Video: New Ron Paul Ad Attacks ‘Texas Cheerleader’ Rick Perry

Republicans

Video

Attack Ad

election 2012

Politics

rick perry

Ron Paul

Here’s a brand new ad from Ron Paul’s campaign attacking Texas Gov. Paul’s foreign policy ideas are 180 degrees to that of Ronald Reagan’s — or anyone else who considers themselves a Republican or a Conservative. Ron Paul has many good ideas on the domestic front, but when it comes to foreign policy he’s out where the buses don’t roam. He’s to the left of Michael Moore and Sean Penn. Ron Paul (R-TX) will announce on Tuesday that he’s going to run for president in 2012. This will be his third attempt. I’ve said many times that Paul has some great ideas when it comes to fiscal policy and domestic matters. Ideas that I mostly agree with. However, I’ve also said he has zero chance of winning the presidency and I stand by that. Ron Paul’s problem is that once you get beyond his economic policies he takes an extremely sharp turn to the left. He could just as easily be a founding member of CodePink his foreign policy views are so radical. Much of his rhetoric on foreign affairs is word for word out of the far left playbook. There’s a reason his frequent ally in Congress is Rep. Dennis Kucinich. There’s simply no way Republicans are going to make Ron Paul the nominee.

Having said that, I’m still glad he’s getting into this race. Ron Paul will ensure that important fiscal issues are front and center throughout the campaign. His views on The Treasury and the Federal Reserve are valid ones that deserve to be debated.

Follow news about Ron Paul and Libertarian issues at Libertyurls.com

Video: Ron Paul Speech From CPAC 2011

Conservatives

Republicans

Video

cpac

cpac 2011

libertarians

Ron Paul

Ron Paul delivered a rousing speech today at CPAC.
