Maybe I was hallucinating, but I could swear when that $887 billion stimulus package was passed it was going towards “shovel ready projects” that included infrastructure. I remember Obama on the campaign trail talking about our crumbling infrastructure and denouncing the Iraq war for taking money that could’ve been used to build roads. That was all bullshit.

Now, Obama is proposing a $50 billion stimulus package to build infrastructure. He was kidding about it the first time around, but he really wants to build those roads now.

This is just further proof of what we already know to be true. The so-called stimulus was nothing but a grab bag of spending and political favors for the hard left. All the programs they could never get funding for over the last 30 years they knocked the dust off of and called them “stimulus.” What the Obama administration did was orchestrate the largest heist in the history of the world.

We shouldn’t allow this thug-in-chief to take one more dime of tax payer money for anything. He’s trying to do now what he promised to do in the beginning.

What’s worse, there’s still hundreds of billions in unspent stolen “stimulus” money that could be used for infrastructure if they were really serious about it.

Obama lied, the economy died.

Gov. Sarah Palin says she intends to accept only about half of the more than $1 billion dollars in stimulus money earmarked for Alaska.

Protesting federal "strings," attached to stimulus funding, Gov. Sarah Palin said she doesn’t want nearly half the estimated $930 million Alaska is eligible for.

"Will we chart our own course, or will Washington (D.C.) engineer it for us?" Palin said.

She expected to file an appropriations bill this afternoon accepting about $251.5 million in stimulus funds, coupled with allocations of $262.6 million already requested for transportation and aviation projects for a total state take of about $514.1 million.

Palin said she’s fine with accepting money that will actually create jobs in Alaska. What she doesn’t want is the social engineering money that Obama is forcing on the states. Money that will permanently grow the welfare rolls and increase the size of government.

Good for her.
